I just wanted to post something that I read on this forum that fixed the bug that gives me the black screen and freezes my game trying to get back onto the Strip. I did not come up with this, but just making a new topic so everyone can see it and hopefully try it out, since not everyone is willing to read through all the threads that might have this information. So enjoy!



If you are having problems getting back onto the New Vegas Strip, head to the Crimson Caravan Camp, and buy the old cowboy hat from Blake, the vendor outside the main office. I equipped the hat and tried reloading the Strip area, and it worked! I am not sure if you need the hat equipped or just in your inventory, either way this is a good solution!

This works, but two things. You MUST be wearing the hat, and you have to wear it EVERY time you enter the strip from now on. That's the only way it works for me, anyway. Good lord this needs to be fixed.

Yes your right you NEED the hat on. Too bad I took the hat off and when I went to put it back on it degraded in quality so bad I can't wear it or fix it. I've tried other cowboy hats but nothing else has worked so far.. So now I am unable to get back on to the strip lol

why do you need a hat? I haven't gotten that problem. I see no blackout when entering or leaving the strip(yet.)

If you don't have the bug/issue....then you wouldn't need to. Read the topic title...

yeah but I want to know why some people are getting that problem, so I can be careful not to do something that will glitch my game.

This bug occurs after completing the quest "Debt Collector."

buying and wearing the hat really lets you in? ill have to try that because its dumb that it locks up trying to enter the strip

Getting the Old Cowboy Hat got me back into the Strip - So it does work. However, for me any save made within the strip after that point is corrupt and will freeze upon loading.

These guys need to be ashamed of themselves for releasing this game in this state.

Ya well I managed to get into the strip by not going through the north gate, but by taking the monorail. As well when I got to the Lucky 38 with my companion,I got in fine and dropped off items for room. As I try to leave the lucky 38 everytime, it blacks out and freezes, I have no way of leaving the place so I am stuck until the patch comes out. Hopefully this managers to get fixed with the first patch.
