Post » Fri May 04, 2012 7:21 am

So im doing an indy game and there are some quests i want to have end in legion victory and others in NCR, as to even everything out for the final battle, but i don't know how to do this, should i get idolized with both and drop from there, or will being idolized with one cause the other to become hostile.

Seems kind of fruitless, as both factions will hate you eventually.

EDIT: No, scratch that. Only the Legion will hate you.

If you pick any path that isn't Legion, the Legion will hate you no matter what. If you pick Indie or House, the only real consequence with NCR (Provided you don't go pissing NCR off) is that you can't do their Main Quest.

So they attack me on sight if i help house or go alone, after what point though?

It is not possible to have them remain non-hostile for the entire game, since both of them will automatically go permanently hostile to you once you complete Wild Card: Side Bets, which is well before the final fight. You can, however, stay on good terms with both at once up until that point provided you do not complete For the Republic, Pt. 2, since doing so will turn the Legion permanently hostile. Oh, and Longknife is absolutely correct: if you do not do work for the Legion they will turn hostile a lot sooner, as it depends on when your rep with them hits certain negative thresholds.

In case something goes wrong during your balancing act there is one chance to reset your rep with both of those factions, which becomes available after you deal with Benny (regardless of how you do so) but stops being available if you turn them permanently hostile.

As I said, only the Legion goes hostile. NCR only goes hostile if you go around causing them problems. I'm doing a House run with an idolised status by the NCR at the moment, and i'm well into the Main Quest.

I finished a game like that yesterday. Was my first play through though.

Spoiler

I can't believe though that there was no discussing the Brotherhood of Steel with House! He was pretty adamant about blowing them up! That's the only part I really hated about this path. BoS were my friends... I guess I just liked them from Fallout 3. LOL This time I think I'll either go Independent or NCR.

Btw. during the ending slides it said that House wiped out the Kings... WTH is that all about? o.0

*about the spoiler.
Yeah kinda was the reason why i hate House, and like i always say, you wanna do something do it yourself. I also loved BoS from F3, but they dont have the same goals, the western BoS are a threath to Vegas, and its hard to say if to kill them or let them live, cause i feel bad for killing them, but when they live they always turn to take all the tech from travelers, which kinda is stealing, and kills the idea of freedom, which is all i stand for. So i did whats neccesary (i didnt kill them, just ignored them for now... still not sure what i should do)

You must have made a peace deal between the Kings and the NCR when you did the G.I. Blues quest. If you incite a war between them and then side with House, he leaves them alone after the game concludes.

No, there is'nt. Because with the independant path, or House, you will show you ar'nt going to side with NCR and CL.
You will get Don't Tread On The Bear(NCR) and the CL one.

So both will not like you or hate you.

So it is best to get in good with the NCR, and crush CL.
Because you need to be on good terms, for saving President Kimbell.

No. The Legion is too monolithic for you to help another faction that can challenge them. If you help Mr. House or you set up everything so that you can control New Vegas, then the Legion turns hostile. Obviously, if you help Legion, you'll be branded a terrorist by NCR. So no, it's impossible.

Kind of makes sense though. The whole point of New Vegas is to choose a side, stick by it, and carry its flag into battle. One faction is going to hate you anyways.

I'm pretty sure you can side with the NCR, and then once the battle is over, tell the NCR you are taking over with your securitron army?

Well, I usually get idolized status with NCR and vilified with the Legion. I was actually accepted by the Legion for a while there and I even gained some karma, when I taught a slave woman how to make better healing powder in the Fort. So, the Legion Assassins left me alone for quite some time. I even gained Ceasar's favor and was able to pick up stuff twice, before I turned the tables...

First of all, they treat women like dirt and the guy at the arena told me to "know your place, woman", because I said I wanted to fight in the arena PSH, I say.

So, I was like, I show you where my place is. I went and talked to the NCR guy near Camp Searchlight and told him I'll take out Cottonwood... and I sure did. Of course my status went to HATED LOL I'm ok with that. BUT a WOMAN took out a whole Legion post dressed as NCR no less hahahahaha well now, let them chew on that bit...

I've been trying the balancing act thing, but the Legion has me Vilified. Curiously though, my status with the NCR is "Smiling Trouble Maker". I didn't even know that the game had something like that in it. I really don't know where I stand with the NCR and I'm stringing both House and Yes Man along trying to decide which way to go.

My status with NCR is Merciful Thug. Yeah...not very merciful. I blow off the legs of NCR Veteran Rangers to get their awesome armor.
