Possible Idea for Housings

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 4:36 pm

So there are rumors going around that, the dev team is thinking about adding player houses.

I think this would be a really good idea, since so many people have concerns about backpack/bank sizes, having a player house in my eye is the best way for people who are game hoarders like myself and my husband. to be able to collect as much as we want in the world and not have to really worry about space. I've played quite a bit of MMO's throughout my teen years up to now. and some MMOs had good quality of player housing. and others have been a miss. i just have a few ideas about how i think player housings could be an added bonus to this awesome game that we will soon have in our hands.

Variety: there can be a variety of houses you could purchase, from a small little shack to a mansion type.

storage: as of right now the only items we can craft in woodworking are, bow, shields and staves. if they added houses it could be possible to craft furnishings to increase storage size. or even chest for storage.

Co-ownership: whether you have the rings are Mara from the imperial edition or finding it in game, you could co own a house with your friend(s), which could allow for a much larger purchase, and even make it where you and your friend(s) could be inside the house at the same time, which is great for guild meetings.

Crafting: I've noticed that the blacksmiths and other crafting areas in town tend to become crowded and thus allowing for laggy or even glitch out, (plus having it difficult to find the crafting stations at times) due to everyone being around it. with the housing system, we could purchase crafting tables like we can in Skyrim (blacksmiths, enchanting, alchemy etc) and place them into our house, thus allowing for us to craft inside our homes, in peace with as little to no lag as possible, creating a peace full stress free environment for us to craft our little hearts outs.

These are just a few ideas that have come to my mind, bits and pieces are from what were available from the MMOs that i played, and how they implemented housing for the players. Tell me what you think. and be free to add any ideas that you have in mind.

ps: the mmos that i used to play were. Everquest 2 (before it became cartoony) FFXI, Runes of Magic, WOW, Lineage 2, Last Chaos. plus every Elder scrolls game

You know that plantation that was burned down in the AD beginner island. I want to buy that, all of that.

I personally like the idea of having Player Housing and Guild Housing. I like the idea of having the abilitie to put crafting stations in your house and craft from there, I'd also like to see "Furniture" As loot that drops from dungeons and possibly higher end chests etc.

No need to have Co-Ownership with people, Should just be able to allow who you allow inside, who are not allowed inside, and who can come inside and move things around.

ah yes, kinda like how in EQ2 you go to the building that a friend has purchased and click their name. if they allowed you to enter you could. but sadly you couldn't move things around. i like that idea. but i just got a bit more idea for the Co-ownership. if could be more than 2 people say the most 8 people could own a house together. they can have their own chest to store their own items that they don't want to say "share" and then the rest of the house can be communal :)

Ahk, yeah i guess it could work that way, Or they could just make it so the people that are Allowed to "Move" Things and stuff, can place objects down, Maybe set a lock on the chest? Or if you place a chest down in a house, only you can use it.

SWTOR just got player housing, over 2 years after launch, and it's just going to be another feature to svck money out of players in the Cartel Market.

Chances are player housing will come about in a similar manner in TESO a couple years from now.

Personally, I'd like to see these as craftable items in the woodworking skill line. Seriously, racial styles of furniture. Win.

+1. I don't want to be looting chairs off my enemies. I'd much rather have players craft the majority of furniture. Being able to loot some stuff from dungeons (like ancient braziers, welkynd stones etc.) would be okay, and being able to taxidermy certain beasts would be cool too, but I would hate to be fighting an ancient draugh or something and loot a bed. Not to mention the furniture then waters down loot tables.

Making a bed should be complex. Blacksmith making nails, carpenter making carcass, leatherworker making cloth part, enchanter fusing it all together and alchemist making sure all that stuff donst smell like poo. :woot:

Here, here! Love the idea of racial styles of furniture! :D

ESO poured its energy into creating a a beautiful environment and a less grind-driven experience...they say again and again that you can explore, engage with the story, enjoy a variety of activities, *savor*. Housing is a natural extension of these values. My most fun moments in-game (beta) so far have been goofing off with friends in between big fights -- how awesome it would be to have a place to hang and/or to have a place we could work on building together when we need a break from questing!
