Possible Lonesome Road Image

Post » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:41 pm

I was looking at Chris Avellone's twitter account and discovered a possible image that looks like it's from Lonesome Road:

To me it looks like the Pitt. Does that mean the area will be similar to the Pitt?

But ya, I think it would be something that has really bad storms, from what I hear about it in NV

Lil late, but no, it will NOT be like the Pitt. The Divide is an area ravaged by storms, and will most likely be devoid of life in most areas.

judging by the pic, it looks a bit linear, boring, and unappealing, then again, who knows what will happen eh?

It will not be like the Pitt, not at all.

People were requesting Alien-abduction based DLC, then Jason came in and said why do it twice, so I can guarantee you nothing will be repeated/copied from any past DLC's, which is a good thing too....

I liked the Pitt....

At least it had a moral choice that had some decent hefty weight to it. Rather than just deciding whether or not to kill some tribal lunatic because.....well just because.

Err . . . are you referring to Honest Hearts? If so, you obviously didn't pay very much attention, as that DLC was full of explanation and reasons for the player to be cooperating, as well as reasons for the 2 main choices in the DLC. To say that it is "just because" is nonsensical.

I hope it is nothing like the Pitt. Nothing at all like it.......

Because you didn't like it or because you don't want a repeat? Clearly, with the low amount of voice actors and characters, as well as the given subject matter alluding to nothing of the sort, it won't be a DLC about slaves in a city run by a guy with surprisingly good intentions that has an army of raiders at his side. The weather, well, it's more brown, so that's different. The thing is, the Divide calls for that sort of effect so even if it ends up looking a bit similar to The Pitt in aesthetics then that's fine.

For me Dead Money was way to hard, I hated the radios, and "Get" to Dean for hours, I must have rage quited over 10 times. I hope Lonesome Road is nothing like Dead Money.

You didnt pay attention to the DLC as a whole, they give you reasons

saying "just because" is ,,,,,, nonsensical

Well, I was referring to the baby kidnapping part.

And fair enough point. I take back my negative remark. But I still feel the Pitt had a lot more going on in it then Honest Hearts. I don't get the hate behind the Pitt. It was my personal favorite of the Fallout 3 DLC.

I wouldn't want to see something EXACTLY like it though. I would like for there to be tough moral choices though. Lately it seems like the moral choices are more like: "Are you a good person? Or a selfish [censored]?" Convincing Joshua to spare Salty Wounds doesn't really feel like it affects all that much. Stealing a baby to free slaves is a hard choice to make. especially when the guy you're stealing it for wants to dissect it and kill the parents.

The Pitt was absolutely the best written Fallout 3 DLC, but you seem to be mistaking Fallout 3 for New Vegas, as that was the game that generally gave you the choice between savior and twirly-moustache-evil. The whole choice thing with Salt-Upon-Wounds wasn't even the main choice, the main choice was between evacuating the tribals or crushing the White Legs. That choice is either preserving the purity and goodness of the Sorrows at the loss of their homeland or letting them take it back but with becoming more war-like. It's practicality vs. idealism, not good vs. evil. The choice with the Pitt is similarly idealism vs. practicality, and there's nothing about it that makes it objectively a harder choice. You may consider it so because of emotional reactions with a baby involved, but when directly comparing them the moral greyness and weight of the decisions are not too dissimilar.

Indeed. However Chris Avellone said before that Lonesome Road would be less like Point Lookout, Honest Hearts, and Old World Blues, as it would be a road with a start and end. However, this map makes it look sandbox-y. Perhaps he meant that unlike those DLCs, the storyline just takes you down that road from A to B but there is still all of that stuff along the way. The latter sounds much better anyway.

Cool image man!!You can see a big road in the middle of the map. Guess thats why they call Lonesome ROAD.
About that first picture , i'm pretty sure it was taken during gameplay. Notice the crosshairs to the right of the solitaire sign.

He is just saying that there won't be a ''pitt'' again, because it was confirmed that there won't be any ''mothership zeta''s in the future. You know, repetition.
