Sorry if this may have already been covered or I'm missing something, but during the loading screens some of the text on the bottom right is confusing me. Sometimes when I travel to Whiterun it'll say Skyrim was settled by Ysgramor and the 500 Companions. But it also says it was that all of Tamriel was settled by Talos? How does that work?!

Was Skyrim settled by one first? Or is this just a mess up on Bethesdas part?

Ysgramor was the one too lead the colonization of Skyrim, before the great dragon-war, but the Nords were killed of by the Aldmer and Falmer after sometime during the "Night of Tears". He and his two sons escaped and he returned with his 500 Companions, leading the assumed genoside of the Falmer and banishment of the Aldmer. Talos was born much, much later.

Talos CONQUERED Tamriel.

This, most of Tamriel was already settled when Talos/Tiber Septim came on the scene.
