Is it possible to lower the vanilla draw distance with distant land enabled?

If you want to reduce draw distance why would you also want to keep distant land enabled? That sounds contradictory. I suppose, if you want to keep distant land enabled, you could always pull the fog in closer to your character, more like it was in Morrowind.

So you want to be able to see less far than vanilla distant terrain but still more than the near grid? Well, I suppose you'd have to edit the fog distance for all weather types that let you see further than you like. Or, if you use Weather - All Natural, there is a section in the ini that let's you set multipliers for the different weathers - so if you set all to 0.5 you get half view distance and so on.

Also, in Oblivion Reloaded, there is a setting to change the FarPlaneDistance, so the distance after which nothing is rendered any more - it is meant to be used to extend that distance, but I suppose it could also be used to lower it - but it should still be higher than the farthest fog distance, otherwise you will see the world cut off in the distance.

All good advice above. You can also lower your uGridDistantTreeRange and uGridDistantCount in your Obliviom.ini. Try 20 and 15. If that isn't enough, go down to 15 and 10.

Thanks all, yeah Pherim was right. I basically want to lower draw distance but not so low as to disable distant land in the options menu.
