Possible Mac port in the works?

I looked at the Zenimax employment page and they are hiring a Mac OS programmer for mac porting. Could this be for Skyrim?

There's nothing currently planned. Game is coming to PS3, 360, and PC.

Even if there will be one I'm definitely upgrading my PC instead of attempting to run this Macbook Pro I'm currently using, lol.

There's always http://wineskin.doh123.com/Information.html. EA used it for Spore I think. The Mac gaming community has exploded thanks to Steam, resent changes to OSX from Apple (see the 10.6.6 updates) and several game developers offering Mac versions of their games (Blizzard, EA, Valve, Zuxxez, etc). Bethesda would only benefit from it and should seriously consider it or perhaps seek assistance from http://www.aspyr.com/.

Truly sad, honestly. Why not make a Mac OS version? That opens up a lot more customers. More people than you know use Macs.

Agreed. I game on a Mac, unfortunately I have to use Bootcamp due to there not being Mac ports to some of my favorite games ... cough, cough, ... Oblivion ... Fallout 3 ... cough.

whatever you do, if you want to try to run Skyrim in bootcamp, I wouldn't recommend buying any of the the new MBPs with integrated graphics or the 256MB Radeon 6490M card.

The 15" models with 1GB 6750M will be a little better.

Are you talking about gaming on a laptop? Shame on you! :D No, I use something with a bit more guts behind it. http://store.apple.com/us/configure/MC510LL/A?mco=MTg1ODA3Nzg

Guys, it's a cost and timeframe issue

A. first they'd have to port the Construction Set, and do tons of internal testing to make sure it behaves the same.
B. The game itself. I'm sure Oblivion and Morrowind both used tons of Windows only shortcuts that just wouldn't work on a Mac. Meaning they'd have to port the entire engine to the Mac, then test the game just as much on OS X as they did on Windows, making sure the gameplay experience is exactly the same. This is a game heavily dependant on physics, it's not like a Blizzard game where they pretty much can port the binaries and call it a day. There's a lot more unknowns, like will X behave differently under Y and Z circumstances on Windows/Mac or will it be the same? This would also make patch development take longer as they'd have to test the patches twice.
C. OS X marketshare is estimated at MAYBE 9%. Windows marketshare is ~88%. You tell me which one is worth time developing for. Not trying to flame or anything, but it's a smaller market that'd need just as much development time as Windows would. It's the same reason most companies don't bother with Linux binaries, the market is too small to justify it. Blizzard and other companies only do it because they've been doing it for years, and in the case of Blizzard, they have more money to throw at development than almost anybody else in the gaming industry besides EA and Valve.

My Envy 15 laptop delivers excellent frame rates for just about any recent game I've ever tried at 1920x1080, DX11, all detail settings maxed. And it's almost as thin and portable as the MBP. (0.95" vs 1.05")

Hell my HP Pavilion DV6 can run anything a PS3 or 360 can. I have no need to upgrade it, but I sure as hell am lol.
