Possible Mod problem, please help

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 1:59 am

Hey I'm just clutching at straws here, hoping someone else has had the same problem as me.

When walking towards the middle of the map from the left (namely the Imperial City) the Valus Mountains which separate Cyrodil and Morrowind suddenly appear. They cant be seen at all from the left side of the world. I'm sure it's an LOD problem, but I haven't been able to fix it.

The only world changing mods I have that effect that region are the Unique Landscape mods, and I've installed the LOD fixes for those.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Want to avoid doing a reinstall.

Thank you very much for any help :)

That's an engine problem. Nothing the modding community can do about it, I'm afraid.

Basically, what happens is the game only loads the landscape LOD quads when you are in range of them (similar to the regular DistantLOD draw distance, but its extended a bit for Landscape LOD). This is going to result in some pop-in.

They only workaround is to increase the uGridDistantCount in Oblivion.INI, but I cannot recommend that unless you enjoy playing a slideshow.

Thanks for the help mate. My setting for that in the INI is 25. If it's not something to worry about, maybe I'll just add it to the roleplaying, you know, they are magical mountains that are sometimes invisible

You can use an excellent tool called http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15781 to generate LOD files. Just extract to the game folder and run it. :)

Thanks, good to be here :)

Is it possible to have it load just the land? I remember using that program a long time ago and it killed my game lol.

You're welcome. :)

It should generate the LOD files automatically and you can copy the LOD patches afterwards.
