Possible OWB Energy Weapon Perk?

Since Old World Blues is most likely going to be an Energy Weapons based DLC I was thinking of a Cowboy and Grunt equivilant perk for Energy Weapons. I'm a Guns guy but I can understand the frustration you EW guys feel. I'm thinking 3-5 new EW's and a new ammo type. And for the perk:

Future Warrior

You don't meddle with sticks and stones, barbarians meet their demise by your laser and plasma weapons. You now inflict 20% more damage with Laser, Plasma and Recharger pistols and rifles, Laser RCW's, Gauss Rifles, Gatling Lasers, Tesla Cannons, Plasma Grenades and Rippers.

The picture is a man in T-51b power armor holding a Laser Rifle above his head in one hand with a Ripper in his other by his side, with his foot on the chest of a dead Legionaire or Tribal holding a spear.

What do you guys think of the idea?

Well we already have laser commander which boosts 15% damage and have plus 10% chance to critically hit with all laser weapons. I would like to see a perk that boosts plasma weapons though because at this point I can't see the point in using them over laser weapons.

Meh, I feel like even with that perk the two are pretty balanced. It only affects a few guns too. Most of the ones listed haven't been boosted other than with AP usage. I think it'd be balanced still.

Plasma Spaz? Meltdown is really good with plasma weps too.

Yeah but compared to Cowboy it's really weak. Heck you could just get Action boy which gives more and that applies to everything.

They've already got Laser Commander and two ranks of Set Lasers for Fun. Other than bigger and badder pew-pew party poppers all I expect is the most statistically indomitable power armor you can create while staying within the limits of reality.

Id like to see a better plasma perk.. plasma spaz is pretty underwhelming, especially when compared to laser commander.

I wouldn't mind a perk to beef up Plasma Weapons. Might give me a reason to use them. As is I use Laser Weapons, and the only Plasma Weapon I use is the Q-35 Matter Modulator, and even then its rare I use it.

PERK: Smell That Ozone

REQS: Level 24, E-Weaps 90

You're very liberal with your plasma weaponry. Critical damage is doubled with all plasma guns.

(Named such because plasma is highly ionized matter, and that tends to ionize the oxygen into ozone)

You love plasma weapons and they love you too. All plasma weapon damage increases by 10%, their rate of fire and accuracy increases by 20%, and they degrade at 80% the rate they normally would.

Do you guys think this would be a good perk? maybe lower the requirements?

A perk gives knock-back effect for gauss rifles would be fine. Guns have two very nice perk: cowboy and grunt they gain %25 dmg boost to almost any weapon. So i belive plasma weapons need something equivalent to laser commander. Something similar to Raul's "maintance" perk but only for EW also sounds fine.

Perk: 'Guass darn it!'

Requirement: Level 20, Energy Weapons 75, Luck 6

Effect: Guass weaponry now has a 'knock-down' effect on critical hits. This perk effects the Guass Rifle, YCS/186, and Guass Pistol (obvious wishful-thinking is obvious) :wink_smile:

If there was another energy weapons related perk, maybe something like:

Energy Optimization: Energy Weapons 90 Science 90 Level 20

You've learned to customize your energy weapons to last against the best punishment.
Weapon decay penalties from using overcharged and maxed charged cells are negated.

I like this one would also like a damage upper for plama weapons no crit increase plasma isnt made for that.

Perk Name: Rifle Stifle
Requirement: Level 15, Energy Weapons 90
Effect: You have been using 2 handed energy weapons held like a rifle for many battles. Your damage with two handed energy weapons held like a rifle is increased by 20%. With the exception of the Gauss Rifle.

Perk Name: Packing the Punch
Requirement: Level 15, Energy Weapons 90
Effect: You are not tired yet from carrying heavy energy weapons around. Your damage with energy weapons held by the waist or held over the shoulder is increased by 10%.

Perk Name: Critical Energy
Requirement: Level 15, Energy Weapons 75, LCK 7
Effect: You are a specialist with energy weapons. Your critical damage with energy weapons is increased by 10%.

this we really need some new PA it doesen't need to be beter in stats than they allready are but something new :(

Honest Hearts gave us the best medium armor
I have to believe Old World Blues gives us the best heavy armor, and by a mile.

My point is, while there are some perks that boost EW's usefulness they need more improvement. Guns already has stuff like 'enemy knock back', EW's just need an all around boost like Cowboy does. We got them with Guns, now I think the EW guys deserve one too. It doesn't need to affect the Holorifle, considering it's already really strong, just like Grunt didn't affect the Automatic Rifle because it's already really strong. Grunt brought up the low tier Guns which was REALLY necessary. I liked using the 9mm and guns like it but they weren't good enough against stronger enemies. Now everything is balanced with most everything being useful in it's own way.

Cowboy made the strongest tier Guns even stronger lol..

OWB should really cater to the EW community, we got 2 best light armors in the past DLC's, now it's time for them to get a new set of Power Armor or something. I think Power Armor is UGLY and even I realize something new is needed!

we can onlly hope but i think Obsidion has a alergie to PA's there are so few options in game that it's allmost sad not to mention that of the few you can get some are really hard to obtain :confused:

Another perk idea: OCD Scientist
Req: 80 science, 80 repair
Your obsession with keeping your weapons in top condition pays off with a 25% damage bonus for energy weapons in a condition greater than 75%.

35% is definitely too much considering you could stack it with Laser Commander.

I think even maybe my proposition should be decreased because without perks I'd say EW's are better than Guns.
