I bought a pipboy edition through Best Buy. My internet is [censored] and I expected to have to spend the whole first night downloading the game because why put games on discs anymore, amirite? Anyway, I was told by someone on facebook that I could still preload even without my license key but I haven't been able to find an option to do that on the main fallout 4 page or anywhere else I've looked. Can someone tell me if it's actually possible and if so, where the link is?

Doubtful. Pre-loading is almost exclusively a digital purchase option only. If you bought a physical copy, whether the collector's edition or standard, you have to wait until you have the disc and key to actually download the game. In other words, you'll likely be downloading the game at release while those who bought the game digitally begin playing.

Try steam, but I think you still need the key. Did you order for pick up in store or have it mailed to you. I ordered from Best Buy to have delivered by mail, and got my key in the conformation email, used that to pre-load from steam.

Only way you're pre-loading is with a key. If you don't have a key you aren't pre-loading.

Maybe if you figure out how to teleport matter.

I actually got an answer from Amazon on this. It is not possible. The Steam key is actually located in the case with the Disc. So until it's in your hands you cannot register your purchased version with steam and start the download.

I didn't get a key from them in the confirmation. Bastards. Maybe because I got a pip boy edition or because I had to do in store pickup.
