Is it possible to reorder masters in a mod?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:55 pm

Hey folks, I downloaded a bunch of Giskards mods, and installed them and ran into a snag.

Origin of the Mages guild, The Elder Council, and Temple of the One have their Masters in a different order than Kvatch aftermath and the fighters guild 'jobs' mod, and when i try to run these all together, the kvatch mod and the fighters guild mod appear not to work.

I cannot reorder the two masters because Origin of the Mages guild, Elder Council, and Temple of the One require the masters to be in the order BOSS currently has them in.

So I find myself asking, is there a way to open up the fighters guild mod and kvatch mod and reorder the order of the three masters it needs?

It calls for Oblivion.esm, Giskards cyrodiil upgrade pack, and the curps controller .esms. I need to change the order of those that the mod asks for.

You can use Tes4Gecko to reorder the masters.
But if you do, most likely giskard will not respond to your questions.
In the past, he's been rather proprietary about people changing his mods.

Alternately, you can load the mod in the CS and re-save it while the masters are ordered properly in your load order, and this should correct the issue. Make a backup before you save, of course.

hehe, I found another way that SEEMS to work...the mod is active, but I havent found the quests yet...but no flags or screams from Wrye Bash or the game, so heres hoping....

1. Click on the update masters window in BASH.

2. Tell it yes you want to mess with things.

3. RIGHT click on the first .esm that is out of order (leave oblivion.esm alone unless its not the FIRST one listed...it MUST always be FIRST. Period!), select change to.

4. Go through the list that opens of your data folder until you find the proper .esm file. select it. click the accept button.

5. repeat for all other .esms.

That was a big mistake, you just totally and completely broke both mods by doing that. You have not changed the order of the masters there, you have told the game to use the WRONG masters for each set of Form IDs. Now every reference to the Curp Controller ESM will attempt to find matching records in the CURP ESM, and vice versa, instead of finding the correct records.

Either use TES4Gecko to change the load order of the masters, or use TES4Edit to "Sort Masters". You could also do as Khettienna suggested, however I wouldn't recommend using the CS for this, TES4Gecko and TES4Edit are better suited.

Doh! I knew it was too easy. Damn the whole BASH team and their sparse documentation! :D
