I found that they are hiring mac programmers for mac ports of their games. Could this mean there will be at some point a mac version of Skyrim?

Don't think so from the information provided. Looks like they're developing an MMO (i.e. non TES related).

There will not be a Mac version. They wouldn't wait this long to announce it. More to the point, Macs don't have the computing power necessary for gaming, unless you want to spend thousands upon thousands more than you would for the equivalent PC.

If they make a mac version they might as well make a Gamecube port to. Don't think it's gonna happen, sorry.

In before people who don't know anything make inane claims about Macs.

Oops, too late.

Just let me know when the iPhone version is out.... till then all pre-orders are canceled.

There is no evidence that that job listing in anyway relates to Skyrim......

Generally true, but then there was the case with Dragon Age:Origins, where (after all the big fans who used Macs had already bought the PC version to run under Bootcamp), Bioware suddenly announced a digital-download-only Mac version. And fans everywhere were like "WTF?"

why all the hate on Macs? If people want to have a Mac version how does that effect PC gamers? Also, if there ever is a Mac version would PC made mods work on it?

I'm trying to think of game developers that are located in Hunt Valley, and the only one I can think of is Firaxis (CIV, sims, etc). They do MMO's and have developed for Mac platforms.

Very interesting job posting indeed...

Because, just like console wars and the various other standard tribal conflicts on internet forums, "Mac vs PC" is one of the big classic flamewars. Posting a Mac thread on a typically PC forum is a pretty normal way to draw out trolls and flaming. It's also pretty normal behavior in the comments sections of computer website articles.

(This forum's actually not that bad, compared to others. Like, WoW General, for instance.)

Also, if there ever is a Mac version would PC made mods work on it?

It would depend on the mod. The ones that just need a regular Data folder copy/paste would probably work fine. Although you'd miss out on the more complex mod-arranging & management functions without a Mac version of OBMM/FOMM. Any mods that use more involved stuff (like .omod installs, OBSE, and stuff like that) would be less likely.

(Regular Dragon Age and Torchlight mods, for instance, install ok. The fancier ones, that do odd things and/or need special installers, don't.)

Zenimax Online Studio (MMO developer) was created in '07 which is the targeted employer. Zenimax Media, which is headquartered in Rockville, MD is the umbrella corp with gamesas and Bethesda Game Studios as subsidiaries. My point was (until I realized that the studio branch was located in Hunt Valley), that they may have acquired another studio.

Yeah, my hypothesis just got shot all to hell... :whistling:

Anyways, looks like they're just farming talent for a Mac port to one of Zenimax's IPs which is an MMO title by the job description (definitely not TES).

Simple, Macs svck. They had a niche market in education, then Apple decided to screw that market. They had a market with graphic designers, then Apple dumbed down their premier graphics app. Apple had a reputation for being the platform for 'rebels' rebelling against M$ and Windows, then they built their hardware to run Windows.

Apple pretty much screwed every pooch they ever sold a Mac to.

That and Apple insists on locking down every piece of hardware they sell to such an absurd point that they have redefined what DRM is.

At this point Mac=Nintendo. So far out on their own that nobody other than the undereducated buy their products.
