'Possible' Solution to Fallout 4 Launch Issue

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 8:59 am

So today, I decided I was going to take one last whack at fixing this mess of a game. I had the same issues as many of you do, Launcher worked perfectly but the rest was just a tease.

But more to the point: this is how I got it working for me (3 easy steps)

- put fallout4.exe into windows 7 compatibility mode

- put fallout4launcher.exe into windows 7 compatibility mode (it is important to put both in win7 compatibility)

- run fallout4.exe as admin

Idk thats all i had to do to FINALLY get it running. Didn't need windowed mode or anything. I hope this works for you and remember to make both exe files in win7 compatibility. It only worked for me when i did it for both.

Good luck my gaming bretheren!

PS I am on windows 10, so idk how this would fix the problem if you're already on Windows 7

am on win7x64,

Ok, I tried it with just both set to compatibilty mode win7, fallout4.exe as administrator and it didn't work, tried both as admin and IT DID...existed relauched, still worked existed again, unchecked compability on both am running win7 anyways...it didn't anymore, recheched restarted and we're back to the black screen with the mouse pointer.

Put them again in the config that worked and it still gives me the black sccreen...am now going to bang my head a few times against a wall while I cook myself some food and open a bottle of wine.

You can play it in windowed mode, this is to try to get it to work fullscreen.

Yup did it to me again, Manage to start game in fullscreen mode and next day computer restart, but after playing for a while and restarting game again have to switch back to borderless/windowless mode to play. If I ever feel like testing after multiple reboot, ect... will post *shrugs*
