Thankfully since I live in [REDACTED] scalping isn't something that really happens around here, though I am happy to hear this news. Hopefully other people will soon be able to get their own copy without having to deal with those greedy buggers.

According to this http://kotaku.com/fallout-4-pip-boy-editions-are-driving-people-nuts-1712639368, if you read down at the bottom. People are admitting to purchasing multiple copies. 1 admits to buying 9 - 3 on each platform. The others I see 2 copies, so that if one retailer cancels. Theres the backup order.

those copies that are being sold on ebay for like 300 buck.............i say confiscate them :D.

But on a serious note, while i dislike that practice, i guess it is not illigal to sell it again after you bought it.

Actually if you re-sell the Pip-edition on E-Bay it is breaking their terms of service because you can't supply it within 30 days, or something to that effect. People on the Fallout subreddit have been reporting obvious scalpers which is something I really like.

I really wish I had thought of it to be honest. Buy two copies and you essentially get a free collectors edition. Obviously it's really scummy, but it's intelligent too.

Ugh. Now I'm kicking myself.

I saw them when they were first listed on Amazon, but figured they would be readily available, and I was going to preorder later. Now I see this thread and then go check Amazon, and of course, "Currently Unavailable".

Curse my lazy ways!

I lucked out hardcoe and snagged a CE when they restocked on Amazon. Now here's hoping that wasn't a fluke or something lol.

Why don't Beth just limit orders to 1 per card? Why not just cancel all orders with more than 1 copy?

People buying multiple copies are obviously trying to exploit

unfortuetly these days, verry few game publishers give much for anything beyond their own wallet, but lets hope BGS is not one of them.

BGS isn't a publisher.

Do you seriously expect gamesas to track the sales of copies through all retailers? Or are you not thinking of the fact that anyone trying to exploit the limited nature of the product could simply purchase multiple copies from multiple retailers?

Wal-Mart, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Gamestop... suddenly I've pre-ordered 5 copies of the game. Nobody knows/cares.

Ultimately, it would be up to the retailers. Amazon could put a limit of 1 per customer on them, but it would be a useless/arbitrary limit easily circumvented by people with multiple accounts/credit cards/family members/access to multiple retailers.

In other words, there's no efficient way to enforce any kind of "1 per customer" rule.

I know somebody that purchased 1, just 1, and decided to try and sell it seeing what eBay was letting some end for. Told them it would not work. Sure enough, eBay actually deleted his listing. Come to find out they deleted other listings from some people for this exact reason. They were probably going to sell lower due to the number listed. Some had just a few hours left for less than $200 to around $230. This is why I think eBay enforces this on some listings. They let other listings I was watching to see what they ended for go that had the higher bids. But that is eBay. Has happened before on other items like this. They enforce the policy on some and that limits the ones available at the time. That runs the price back up and gives eBay more cash as well.

I saw one end for over ?$300 a few hours after they deleted some of the lower listings. Same exact item, same exact pre-order listing, with some cancelled items stating Amazon pre-order where they would change shipping to buyers address while the higher $ ones stayed on in some cases.

A simple solution, that may work, would be to offer future CE's through the Bethesda store only.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you...........( a hour later ) Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know its not much of a chance but I have had a really bad month & to top it off my town got enough rain that we had minor flooding & I couldn't get to gamespot on Monday to pre-order it. I was so sad it was sold out now I atleast have a better shot at getting the Pitboy edition then I thought I had since Tuesday.

EB Games Australia has a policy of 1 copy per customer both in the online (you can only order one via credit card number) and 1 per customer at the counter. Obviously its subject to abuse but it seems to have worked okay. Obviously customer service in other countries is variable but It appears EB games Australia actually thought about this ahead of time and wasnt as reactionary as some international stores have been.
