Is it possible to split-up armor pieces?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:40 pm

By split up I mean that instead of a 1 piece suit of clothing/armor that covers your body, it has shoes, gloves, pants, etc. Mainly for enchanting purposes really.

So yeah, could anybody point me in the right direction of how to do-so? Well, assuming it's not very complicated (I'm no modder :)). Searching myself on various sites didn't help as I never found anything specific enough for what I want to do.

If it's easy, however, would anybody mind doing it for me for this one armor mod? I'd be very grateful if you did :P

Splitting an armor that was modeled to be one piece into several pieces can be anything from 'a good bit of work' to 'next to impossible'. You need to know how to use a modeling program like Blender/3ds max to do this. If the armor is just a copy/paste Nifskope job it should be easy however.

I see. I don't know anything about blender/3ds max (though I've heard of them). I doubt it's something I can do myself unless I really get into modeling. Kinda kills that idea...

Anyways, here's the mod if anybody wanted to know: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27319

Just wondering if anybody else has any other opinions on this...or is Phitt right and this is very difficult?

The Westwind Rogue Outfind is very 'split friendly'. You can do it very easy with NifScope. But to get the parts into your game you need also the Construction Set and the knowledge, how to make a new .esp-file. Its not difficult either, it just needs some reading of any of the available tutorials and some trial and error. But as soon as you know how it works it is a lot of fun to 'cut and paste' your own armors and clothings... ;)

I agree. For this particular armor it seems only NifSkope and the CS are really needed. It looks like this is just a copy-paste job. It's not that hard to do it by yourself and you will learn some useful modding skills in the progress. :)

That's what I initially thought about it actually. It was more of a guess of course though.

Thanks, but I would probably abuse that with other armors...however I might consider it later if I can't figure out how to split up the armor :P

Anyways, thanks everybody for the replies. Maybe there is hope yet. :goodjob: Would anybody mind linking me to an "easy to get into" tutorial that can get me started?

Actually, for the tutorial...I can find one I believe. Just a matter of finding the part that I'm looking for...
