It is possible to swim, or jump from Solstheim to Vvardenfel

Post » Sun May 06, 2012 7:26 pm

I jumped using a scroll of flight, and landed in Vvardenfell.

It was strange. Anybody else ever done this?

Hmm... most people die from using that scroll. Well done. :P

I swam from Vvardenfell to Solstheim (just to say that I did), but never the other way.

BTW, never swim from Vvardenfell to Solstheim without being invisible or chameleoned. Those fish probably won't kill you unless you just got off the boat at Seyda Neen, but you'll definitely be inclined to nuke them in the CS.

I did it once after cheating with the console. I was amazing. I was wearing the bear armour and I was jumping around and punching everything so I used a scroll and I had so much hitpoints or something because I didn't die. It gets boring waiting to come down though.

It's all about Windwalker Scrolls :disguise:

Got me all the way across Vvardenfell once (for Azura's Quest).

I've used that to get myself a Nordic Silver Battleaxe at Level 1 before.

I landed JUST before the land.

Realistically-speaking, hitting the water from that height should turn you into spaghetti.

But this is Morrowind. :P

Ha, I remember when I first got bloodmoon. I didn't even know there was a boat. I swam there.

I miss the good ol' days of knowing nothing about Morrowind. They really need to invent a device that lets me remove particular events from my memory. :D

It's like crack, it's just never the same as the first time.
My brother brought over the game on xbox to show off, but apparently saw how much I liked it that he gave the game to me. The natural thing to do next was get the PC version just to mod.

Personally, I use the scroll of windwalking. As far as jumping, never tried it, though I did jump to the Sanctus Shrine (I use a spell of levitation before I land to avoid the flat as a pancake effect).

Never done it. Always the boat for me. Keep saying I'll take the swim just to be able to say I did, but when it comes to it, I always just take the darn boat.

I did use the Icarian Flight scrolls along with some other enchantments to jump from Seyda Neen to Balmora then from Maar Gan almost to Ald Redaynia. Kind of a neat experience. I just cast a slowfall right before I hit the ground.

The first time I went to solstheim I went by boat. The second time I used the Ictharian Flight Scroll and an Amulet of Slowfall to time my landing just right. A little while later I tried swimming. That was boring!

Oh and I used Boots of Blinding Speed and Water Walking spell a few times too.

It was this kind of freedom to play your own way that made Morrowind so freaking awesome, and why Oblivion always feels like it's missing something. :(

FYI - You can use a second Scroll of Icarian Flight just before you land to negate the fall damage from the previous scroll, and to use as another jump afterwards. Easier than changing spells (unless you have a CE slowfall effect). Although you'll need to use a slowfall spell eventually to get the most out of the scrolls.

Windwalker is the best. If you ever get a very powerful mage character it is possible to recreate spells that mimic its effect (or just mod some cool spells in like that) for handy zipping around.

It's possible. Once I swam from Solstheim to Vvardenfell in werewolf form. I wanted to slay everyone on the island but as I reached a Daedric ruin I transformed back to human form. And there I was. (Not so) alone. Naked.

Yeah That has happened to me before. I used Hirciene's Ring and turned into a werewolf and swam to Vvardenfell, but I got to a town and right after I killed the first person, my character transformed into a human and I was killed by a guard doing this :gun: :shocking: So sad... so mad... :banghead:

Same here. :lmao:

And I've never jumped from Vvardenfell to Solstheim, but I have swam the entire way there before because I also hadn't known there was a boat. :pinch:

Never swam or jumped it, but used a pair of pants enchanted with a Waterwalk spell (and an occasional cast version of the spell) to hike the distance. The potential number of Slaughterfish between Vvardenfell and Solstheim made me hesitant to try swimming, and jumping it seemed like it would involve too many attempts, misses, and reloads to be a viable option. Hoofing it seemed a lot more practical as an "alternate route", although taking the boat was obviously the ultimate answer.

While we're talking about them, where can I find more scrolls of Windwalker?

I've gotten two in the many years of playing Morrowind. One was in a smugglers' den I believe, one that I visited for a quest. The other was random loot. I always get the open 100 pts scrolls, which are nice if you don't have magic skills or the skeleton key, but the Windwalker scrolls are easily the best in the game.

I was far too lazy to go through Bloodmoon once I had gotten to the part in Tribunal where you get a Daedric cuirass. The only piece I had missing was one of the pauldrons, the one you get near the end of Bloodmoon (not as a reward, but you're sent in the general direction for a quest). So when I finished the Tribunal quest I jumped back to Vvardenfell, took the boat to Solstheim and used the scroll to cut across the whole island and grab the last piece.

I never wear Daedric, but man is it a reward to complete a full set without killing Divayth Fyr.

My Vampire waterwalked. She hates swimming and R' virr wouldn't take her. She had to time it carefully so she would not get caught out in the sun. All of my other characters took the boat.
