Possible ways to get more framerates? From editing .cfg file

Post » Fri Oct 29, 2010 4:14 pm

Hey,

I'm upgrading to Radeon 5870 as soon as it's back in stock on Newegg.
Currently I have a Core 2 Duo with 8800GT, both overclocked slightly on stock air cooling. (Bought 3 years ago)

I'd like to get more frame rates out of Crysis 2.
Right now I get average 42 fps on lowest settings, with AA, AF, Bloom, and all other settings off.
However, sometimes the FPS drops down to about 25 and ruins the battles.

Is there any way to disable more options like particles and such in the cfg?
Please let me know, thanks.

Try rebooting.

Honestly.

I don't know why but I at least get way better performance if a game is the first thing I launch after rebooting, even if the same amount of programs is running in the background. Might not work but it's worth a shot.
