Post-Apocalyptic Horse

Why.

Cause it would be stupid. I also gave a very good reason why they would have died off. It is very simple. They can't Vomit!

What about FEV? Mutations did not start showing up right away. Horses would have died off long before that. Also the world was covered in radation. Which causes radation sickness, which means vomiting. Horses can't so they die. Horses can die from something simple like sea sickness. So the Russain Steppe would have no horses.

If the Original Devs wanted horses in Fallout they would have put horses in Fallout.

BUT THERE ARE NO BIKES! People do not change into immortal lepers when exposed to radiation, nature would pretty much bounce back in a century if real nuclear war happened! :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: STOP BEING A MORIARTY!

I imagine horses in the Fallout Universe to look like this:

Cool, but I still have to go with no. Unless that was some factions Science experiment.

STOP BEING A MORIARTY!

If anything I would be Sherlock Holmes. Then again Moriarty is a Doctor :ermm:

Wrong Sherlock, I was referring to another Moriarty. Guess which one. Also...

Due to surface area to volume ratios, Radroaches/Cazadores/Bloatflies/ any-other-oversized-incists would not be able to respire and therefore exist. How about them apples Leo Decima?

Egg on my face, should have known you were talking about Colin Moriarty.

Flies are alot smaller then a horse which means they can better stand the effects of Radation. Mythbusters had a show on that.

Wrong again.

Also, that's not the point, the point is, due to the way insects and other small bugs respire, the largest they could possibly get without suffocating is not very.

Then who are you talking about? I must know!

As for the bug thing "Science!" There was once giant bugs but that was because the world's oxygen levels were different back in the time before dinosaurs.

Because, you know, the humongous increase in vegetation since the Great War caused the oxygen levels to spike, oh wait. I kid you though, I do not look for logic in a game where being exposed to radiation can turn you into an immortal leper, because it's a game.

As for Moriarty... Well go back to that clip and you'll find the answer.

Why the [censored] are there Cazadores in FNV, when they haven't been in any other game? Why are people acting like they've always been there?! Aaaagh!

I want a horse, I wanna ride one into a post-apoc town, I wanna get attacked by mounted raiders with guns, I wanna hunt down people with my horse, I want a horse! A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!
If game takes place like in norhtern USA, then they can simply explain that all horses fled/migrated north to better conditions and all that.

There's always reconing...

Also, giant insects shouldn't exist at all (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SquareCubeLaw), but I don't complain, if the devs want horses, they can have them, if they don't, fine.

Yeah you have a point but horse just showing up as if they had always been in a game would be stupid. Still going with the idea that they died out because they can't vomit.

if it was in a new location, they wouldnt be just showing up, though. you (or that of a fallout protagonist persspective) would.

lets not forget there are plenty of land formations that can act as borders, keeping some species isolated from others.

A new location could work. Still I would have problems. How did they survive the radiation from the great war? If Bethesda continues with "Must have Radiation everywhere!!!! :chaos:" then the horses would die due to the radation.

but "everywhere" doesnt have radiation. NV didnt have much. granted all of the water supplies were irradiated in F3 that still doesnt spell out that theres radiation everywhere.. there were a lot of radioactive drums.... its certainly not indicative of the whole country even with beth at the helm.

I dont see it as improbable that an ark of sorts wouldnt be set up to ensure the xontinuity of the flora and faun

mind you i dont want to see horses in ffallout

I also don't see it as improbable that there is/was an ark type bunker/vault out there. Some place could have horses. I also don't see horses in Fallout.

i think the story, with good writing, could go either way. it seems retty logical that if mankind were bracing for total annihilation that not only people would be benneficial to rebuilding. n work/pack animals would be a prime candidate for such an umdertaking

This, I thought we were done after Styles presented a very good reason for their lack of in America at least.

Why the Shi? I know they have access to all sorts of advanced equipment, but I was not aware they ahd cloning technology as well as the entire horse genome and such.

I think its unlikely the Shi would do it or could do it. Maybe if they found some horse DNA. Shi have very advanced labs and were working on genetic engineering of animals and plants. Would have been great to have a Shi in New Vegas intresed in Vault 22.

I still think the reason horses are gone is because they can't vomit. They got radation sickness and died. Just like they can from sea sickness.
