Post launch map size opinions

Pre launch, during the leaks about the game, there was a lot of concern that the map might have been too small.

Today I have spent my game time just exploring, mostly the south west area of the map. It appears as though the available world space is not necessarily limited to what the map displays as the borders in the pip boy. Some times being able to go beyond, some times there is an invisable wall before you reach the maps displayed border. So it appears the map isn't really a perfect square, like it kind of was in FO3.

My opinion so far is that the map is probably an acceptable scale for my personal preference. I explored the glowing sea, granted I was a low level, and it seemed to be way more massive than the map makes it seem. So far the west area of the map seems to be a great balance of empty space between locations and places to explore.

I wasn't terribly concerned when people started to complain that the map may be too small, after that video leaked of the guy crossing the wasteland in 11 minutes. Which I didn't actually watch my self, but I suspect that given the map isn't uniform or truly square, that person may have not ran the full gambit that is possible, making the map seem much smaller than it actually is. Even if the map turns out to be uncomfortably small in the long run, it will be very easy to make more world space with the use of mods.

I am curious as to what other people thought pre launch and what they think so far.

Also, I tried to revive a previous thread about the map, but I couldn't not find any of them buried beneath all the posting the last 24 hours.
