Post-release patches?

Post » Fri Oct 17, 2008 9:05 am

Hey guys, I wanted to ask Crytek and your opinion on something. I'm planning to buy Crysis 2 on either Xbox 360 or PS3, but I can't decide which one to buy. The graphics being better on the PS3 (based on the Lens of Truth comparison) is a big plus for me since one of the key features of Crysis 2 are the amazing visuals, but the framerate is worse than the Xbox 360 version. You could argue the difference isn't noticeable, but at least on the multiplayer demo it REALLY made a difference for me after going from Xbox to PS3. When the framerate starts to dip to < 29/28, it really makes a difference gameplay-wise.

So I was wondering, do you plan to do any post-release patches for the PS3 version that improves the framerate?

Honestly i have had no problems with connection other than 1 or 2 games and ive played probably hundreds.

And the frame rate issue is so minor that most games there isnt ever a drop.. I really think they are almost identicle

I am an avid PS3 gamer, though I have all systems. From everything I have read, the 360 version outperforms its PS3 counterpart. I bought the PS3 version. It is beautiful, though the framerate dips are apparent. I would LOVE for crytek to continue supporting this product/fans with as many patches as necessary. Preferably addressing framerate, though other glitches exist. Pop-in, among other oddities.

honestly i believe people are confusing frame rate issues with lag. Dont mean to sound like a negative nancy, but i believe that framerate is unfixable through a ota(Over The Air) patch.(if you can prove me wrong please do so) On a lighter note, if it is lag then that is indeed fixable through an update.

I havent experinced any Framerate issues or lag yet. As for what system you should get it on, go for the one where you have the most friends playing it. Obviously, the game will be more enjoyable this way.

I got it for the ps3 and have not been disappointed. Hope this helped!

Orly?

You can see that the framerate is worse on the PS3 version, and in the video footage espicially the Xbox version looks much smoother.

Anyway thanks for the information man, and sorry for quoting you out of context, just wanted to make a point. :P

no problem man i understand, but what about this:
comment taken from someone who made a comment, would u agree?

"Lowest FPS clip for 360 was 20. Lowest for the PS3 was 25. When you look at the averages the PS3 ran less than 3 FPS slower but was more consistant. The 360 however had almost 2% tearing while the PS3 had none. Still 2% is a low number, as is a 2.5 FPS difference."

all in all, good reply and i enjoyed the reading. Would you mind posting when they do the next anolysis.

Mate, ok lensoftruth anolysis is maybe right but there are no too many difference. Framerates are same approximately.
