I have thought out the best possible SPECIAL build to aquire and maximize the amount of skill points you can possibly get per level...

– 5 Strength
– 6 Perception
– 5 Endurance
– 4 Charisma
– 10 Intelligence
– 5 Agility
– 5 Luck

0 Points Left

3/3 Tagged Skills

80 Action Points

200 Carry Weight

5 Critical Chance

200 Hit Points

2.5 Melee Damage

15 Skill Rate

2 Unarmed Damage

13 Barter

17 Energy Weapons

17 Explosives

15 Guns

17 Lockpick

25 Medicine

15 Melee

25 Repair

25 Science

15 Sneak

13 Speech

15 Survival

15 Unarmed

This is a starting build...

I had maxed out all of my skill points to 100 by the early 40s because the amount i get per level

These skill points made me an all around better character to rule the wastes

Post your starting SPECIAL and why!!!

There's really no point in starting with 10 Intelligence unless you're planning on skipping the Intelligence implant.

Well no kidding! But if you're going to get the implant, there's no point in going that high as you can't have a value higher than 10. Not to mention that there's no need for such a high score to begin with, since at 50 levels you're going to end up pretty much maxing out all your skills anyway. You don't need to have everything at 100 anyway. You're not likely going to be using Energy Weapons, Guns, Melee Weapons, and Unarmed all at the same time. You only need to max out 2 of them, at the most. Skimping on your other stats just for the sake of maxing out all your skills ASAP is a foolish way to build a character.

I STRONGLY disagree.

But relax, each one with his opinion.

The more skill points you have maxed, the more options you have for choosing your playstyle, because you can change your playstyle whenever you want. So you're saying people should stick to one thing? This is just like the real world in school, the higher the GPA, the more options you have for colleges... And youre telling me to stick to one or two community colleges,

now THAT is a foolish way to live...

most SPECIAL traits are just for skill points

having maxed out skill points will save you the perks to use for something else rather than to boost your SPECIAL

If you say ......
personally, I recommend this build to F3, the craziest game of the history, where you can get to level 30 with 10 Special at all and full of skills at level 100.

NV demand more refinement. IMHO.

Your weapon choices are going to make very little difference to your overall play style, There's nothing all that different in that respect from using Energy Weapons rather than Guns. They're both ranged weapons and they will be both be used in the same way. The same goes for Melee Weapons/Unarmed. So there's no need to max out all of them in order to switch up your style at some point. My characters usually go with Guns, with Melee Weapons as a secondary. There's is absolutely no need for me to put any points into the other weapon choices as I'm not going to use them anyway. It's just a waste of points. Just like putting everything into Intelligence would be a waste of SPECIAL points. One example, putting extra points into Endurance allows a character to have more implants. Not to mention extra Hitpoints and resistance to radiation and poison. Focusing solely on maxing out your skill points just gimps your character in other areas.

No, they're also requirements for many perks. For instance, your current build won't allow you to take Better Criticals, which is a very good perk to have, as it requires scores of 6 for both Perception and Luck.

Bear in mind that completing Old World Blues and Lonesome Road will also affect your SPECIAL scores, or there's even the Intense Training perk. But in answer to your request, my starting SPECIAL is as follows: S - 6, P - 4, E - 6, C - 7, I - 7, A - 5, L - 5. This is due to my character being an attempt to replicate myself in the Fallout world.

Strength: 5

Perception: 5

Endurance: 6

Charisma: 6

Intelligence: 7

Agility: 6

Luck: 5

My tag skills are usually guns, repair, and sneak. My traits are usually "Built To Destroy" and "Trigger Discipline". Your choices seem to be pretty good for what your stated purpose is. Much comes down to what assets the player desires at game start as opposed to what the player wishes to aquire over the course of the game. My preference for the latter. It provides me with more of a challenge for a longer period of time, allows me to make use of what the game offers later on, and ties in with certain mods which I always use. Good Hunting :)

Yeah OP that's pretty interesting. Now try for one to have all SPECIAL=10 before the end. I did that once, it took some adds from clothing to do it.

My next character is going to be me again(ho-hum), yet another attempt at DiD survival. My last DiD character died at Level 37, in Dead Money.

S-4, P-5, E-4, C-5, I-7, A-4, L-9. Traits are Four Eyes and Small Frame. Skills probably Guns, Sneak and Speech.

Since this is only 38 points, I'll probably throw the other two into E and P.
