No, Elder Scrolls: Fable does not seem very attractive to me.

Voted no, but only because I think it would be too easy to get rich. If they could implement it so that doesn't happen, I can't see the problem. The only game I have for reference is Fable and it made it ridiculously easy to get rich quick imo.

[Edit]: Forgot about the houses bit - building houses would be cool, and for me owning houses (even prebuilt) is a must, but I wouldn't want to rent them out, for reasons stated above.

Its adding new things to a game so you can earn some gold easier and build up things. So you don't want to own a house to put your things or a shop to sell things or personal things

Be nice as a retirement option to end a character's adventures.

Owning a shop could be interesting, as far it not make too easy to get rich.

Houses, yes. They have actual purpose.
Shops, no.

Owning a shop would be such an insignificant thing, it's only purpose would be making easy money without doing the work of finding vendors to sell junk to. Wait for a mod.

Houses, of course. I wouldn't want to rent them out or anything, but I would want to own them.

No to shops. Maybe in a later TES game, but not in Skyrim.

Hmm.. Houses of course! Shops if done right, for example: If you have to go search/explore/find the items that you sell. I think that would be awesome. You know traveling the land looking for a buyer for your rare artifacts. Or even just putting them on display in a store for sale I think it would be cool.

I see alot of ppl refering TES to Fable and thats a mistake because any of the TES games have been 10x better then fable and i agree with the "get rich way to easy" thing but it would be the same as selling your items for gold. Maybe make it where you have to put things into the shop in order for NPC's to browse and purchase items

I would say yes, the more RPG choices the better!!! On the topic on the complaint "get rich way to easy", if you don't like it then don't own a shop (it's your choice), but for those Players that like the idea can actually run a store in the game.

I love this idea.

To answer the question, of course I'd love to own houses or shops! Just because it's similar to Fable doesn't mean Bethesda can't make it better. I think we can all agree the Elder Scrolls series definitely needs more options.

I maybe personally wouldn't want to, but it might provide a nice contrast for a character who is a driftr who travels light from place to place.

An easy way to do this and have balances for pursuing shop owning would be to link it directly to your mercantile (or whatever skill we have for that now). If you have a high enough mercantile then you can own a shop; if it's even higher you can own more; if it's maximum, you can own any purchasable shop. Considering that maxing out this skill would mean hindering your other skills it may end up being the only way you can make money, rather than an option for making money. Questing into dungeons would require that you hire armed mercenaries, which will cast you that extra money that you would have made that week. If you didn't want to go spelunking, you could save that weeks worth of money and have a more or less consistent increase in wealth (as compared to the feast or famine of dungeon diving).

This balance would make specific skills more meaningful, while also allowing for variable gameplay (as one could play a character that focused on skills that are not useful in combat, but still manage to give longevity to that particular character's game). Creating a system like this really allows for emergent gameplay, as well.

you should be able to buy a shop and rent it out. by doing this you get a constant flow of money and most likely a discount too! if this was an option i hope they dont do it like fable 3 i love fable but the games are too clashing. but as for shops its not unreasonable
