I never really liked mainstream music... Some are good but you hear it so often it gets boring really fast, not worth buying.

Bon Iver is one of my favorites.

I'm not even sure what qualifies as an indie band. Austrian Death Machine comes to mind but I think they're more niche than indie.

Does "Of Montreal" count?

I also like the Cold War Kids, and some others.

Pretty much every band on Fat Wreck, Hellcat, or Epitaph turn out to be good.
