QTP3R + QTP3 UOP Comp. Patch?

Post » Sat Oct 30, 2010 7:28 am

Hi everyone, I'm trying to make a new Oblivion installation using obmm to install UOP 3.2.0 + UOP 3.2.5 Fix, QTP3R and Bomret's Texture Pack for SI , but I really don't know how to install those two mods without having conflicts and I've been trying it since last Saturday but I just cannot do it alone, so that's why I'm asking here. That's how I've tried to install it, step by step:

1- Oblivion, official DLCs and SI + last official SI patch.
2- UOP 3.2.0, DLCs UP and USIP 1.4.
3- UOP 3.2.5 Fix.
3- QTP3R.
4- QTP3 UOP32 Patch.
5- Bomret's Texture Pack for SI

I'm afraid that there may be many conflicts because I'm installing UOP 3.2.5 and QTP3R with the compatibility patch for QTP3 and UOP32 (when I start to install QTP3R, it replaces many, many files) and I do not have idea when the game can surprise me with graphical glitches, crashes... and Bomret's TP for SI also asks me to overwrite some files. So, please, if anybody can help me a bit with this I'd be really grateful, because I really don't know how to install this. Thank you!

Is QTP3R the "redimized" or "reduced" version?

In the case of the Redimized version, I believe it already includes the fixed meshes from Unofficial Oblivion Patch. According to the documentation at http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/totoworld.html "even the fixed meshes from the latest UOP-Compatibility Patch are already included." At least, I didn't install the patch based on reading that and haven't had any problems.

Edit: it's probably worth mentioning that I did spend time using PyFFI to optimize the appropriate meshes (e.g. architecture) from QTP3 Redimized before installing it.

If you are using Qarl Redimized then there is no use for the UOP32 compatibility patch. As far as I know, those are already integrated in the Redimized package. Rest seems, alright?

edit: oops too late :(

No, you need the patch.

I'll defer to Tomlong75210 because he has a lot more experience with this, although the readme for QTP3 Redimized also says it includes the fixed meshes, not just TOTO. I personally haven't noticed any issues without the patch when using QTP3 Redimized, even in areas specifically fixed by it but it's possible I just didn't notice something visually.

It's "she", haha, and QTP3R has not been updated since UOP32 was released. It does contain some UOP fixes, but it does not include the more current changes. BAIN (with its awesome conflict detection) tells the story better than I can. ;)

Taken from the readme:

If you install UOP after installing QTP3, you'll need to either reinstall QTP3 or install this patch to resolve this problem.

So my understanding would be if you install QTP3 AFTER UOP then you should not need the patch.

Tomlong, a she you say (sounds like a line from Oblivion :) ). Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I could have just looked at your profile. Now your picture makes more sense, nice artwork BTW :)

I have followed this procedure UOP THEN QTP3 and never had problems over the past 2 years (unless they relate to CTD)

Installing QTP3 after UOP would not help because QTP3R does not contain the 3.2 fixes If you are using UOP 2.1 for some reason, then sure...haha. That is my PC's companion (Viconia, haha) and I have Ren to thank for her Mystic Elves, which allowed me to create that face. It really stinks when I lose track of old save files, however. I am not even sure I have that version of her face anymore. :(

I would assume installing the patch would not break anything?

Which patch? Just follow the install guidelines I linked earlier. The QTP3 UOP patches are safe. Installing mismatched data files rarely "breaks" Oblivion, but things might not match as well as they should in game, haha...

Of course not. That patch is the last to be installed in the QTP3+UOP series, unless you also installed the PyFFI patch (which already includes that patch.) I install the regular version of the patch as well to be safe, however. I have not compared to make sure that all of the files are included, or...at least, I cannot remember at the moment. Now, I think that that patch is included in its entirety in the optimized meshes download...

The original optimized meshes had the patch incorporated. The fixed version does not specifically state that it does and refers you to the original optimized readme. So take a guess.

Okay, according to the description all of the files from the QTP3+UOP are not included (but I will verify this in the future.)

That's exactly what I needed, I have already been in your webpage but I didn't notice that link, thank you so much, I'm going to follow that guide step by step; but I have two more questions:

- Will I have problems if I install UOP 3.2.5 instead of UOP 3.2.0?
- If I install those mods with obmm and I press yes to everything when it asks me for overwriting, will I have any problem?

Edit: I forgot to ask how can I correct this, it's not related with this, but just to not to create a new thread, it's about LOD mesh, it's happening to me with Vanilla Oblivion and I haven't found any information about how to correct it:

No. UOP 3.2.5 does not conflict, and that screen shot only shows one of the natural rifts in the game. I need to put up screen shots about that...

Ok, then I'll start installing all the mods again with obmm, thank you so much for helping me, I really needed it.
