Is it possible to use the wireless Xbox 360 controller with the ipad or iphone? I'm thinking it can be, but how difficult would it be to get it to work?

No.

The Xbox 360 does not use Bluetooth, but a proprietary RF call. The iPad/iPhone firstly has no way of recieving this signal, and secondly no way to hook up the receiver to it. Assuming you could hook up the receiver to it, you'd then have to develop a driver for that so iOS can interpret the input. Only Apple can make said drivers as it is faaaaaar out of the scope of what their released API set are capable of, which mean decompiling lots of stuff, at which point Apple sues you for copyright violations.

Going the clean-room way would be very tedious if even possible, by capturing and anolyzing the calls to and from Apple approved peripherals until you have the understanding on how to implement it yourself.

Assuming you somehow make it to this point without getting sued and in a reasonable time period as to not make all your work pointless by updates, you'd then have to probably jailbreak your iphone and implement your driver

So to start, I need a really good computer scientist and mabey an Electrical Engineer?

I wonder if someone straight out of school with a undergrad degree can make this work, or will it take more experience than just an undergrad to do things like this?

The ipad has bluetooth?

If it does, is it possible to go Controller -> phone w/software -> ipad

Short answer: Yes, the iPad has Bluetooth. No, it won't help you connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your iPad. Also, it is highly unlikely that anyone with an undergraduate degree in electronics could figure out how to rewire a wireless Xbox 360 controller and make it work with an iPad - though I could be wrong.

A much, much easier thing to do is use a Wiimote with a Classic controller attached - the Wiimote uses Bluetooth, for one, and there are already apps for Android and iOS to make Wiimotes work with the iPhone / iPad.

If the games aren't made for the controller, then it's not the best one for them.
