No Fast Travel?

Post » Wed Nov 03, 2010 8:33 pm

I've read on Joystiq that apparently, there won't be any vehicles (no change there) or any fast travel whatsoever. How could that possibly work? In hardcoe mode, you'd die of sleep deprivation faster than you can say "aaghaglhdgcoauygdc" and collapse.

Sure, the tweaks and multitude of new weapons are welcome additions, but they were entirely necessary to keep fans interested in this franchise -- and perhaps Obsidian hasn't gone far enough with the changes. There are no vehicles in New Vegas (and apparently no fast travel system at all), and players are still going to spend a lot of time inside Pip-Boy menus and the VATS system. Still, if you're yearning for more "Fallout 3," New Vegas is shaping up to be a fun, familiar journey back to your favorite post-nuke world.

Read it, and, should the situation warrant, weep.

That's not a reassuring preview by any means. "If you're yearning for more fallout 3"...is it really THAT much like 3? They make it sound like it should be an expansion...

Pretty sure that is [censored], as I've heard J.E. provide info to the contrary on another forum.

I never used Fast Travel, and no vehicles has been confirmed for a while. It just wouldnt work with the engine......nor would ladders for that matter.

well after reading that link you would also see this

Update: We mention later in this piece that Fallout: New Vegas apparently wouldn't have a fast travel system. We decided to contact Bethesda about that ... since just like you, we don't want to spend all of our gameplay time walking from one town to the next. Here's the response we received: "Fallout: New Vegas will have a fast travel system – just like Fallout 3. The guys were just pointing out that unlike Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas won't have any underground tunnels (the metro) linking the various locations."

They're only talking about how there will be no metro system

Beat Styles to it ^_^

Fallout is a series that has never featured Fat Travel. No, actually i lie. There was one situation where half of Gizmo's chest travelled across a room. Pretty sure that counts as fat travelling.

Thats what you meant, right?

When I read this reply from Joystiq it sounds like a cheap excuse for a bad investigated article.

No fat travel? So our morbidly obese characters won't be able to tackle much distance? :sadvaultboy:
Not without a forklift they won't.

Anyways though, this topic's been answered. I think it should pretty much be closed now.

First that crappy inaccurate faction guide and now this.

There are some pretty shoddy gaming journalists out there.

I am closing this as it is a topic based on incorrect information. As has already been stated in this topic there is an added section in the review.
