dragon attacks on villages

When Dragon's attack villages, will important characters die? It wouldn't be too fun to see the population of a village be reduced to zero after multiple dragon attacks. Maybe theres just special NPC's made to die?

I'm actually quite curious about this as well.

I doubt any important/quest/shop keeper/NPC with dialog will ever be killed in a dragon attack. I also anticipate that these dragon attacks will be completely scripted(Hopefully I'm proved wrong)..

Dragon attacks are going to be horrible if they AREN'T scripted because it's gunna look silly when they are called world eaters and such and then when they light houses on fire the fire just burns out after an hour with no structural damage whatsoever..

We'll see what happens I guess

I also believe dragon attacks will be scripted. This would cause too many problems otherwise. No to immortal NPCs as a solution.

The future of Skyrim is secure however they do it. The little kiddies are pretty tough, remember. As for the parrents? That is the question. I'd be pretty entertaining/creepy if one town got completly whipped out, and then all the kids took over their parrents rolls due to this radient quest relative thing where businesses can get passed down to a relative.

1 Thing I hope is that they have more than just named NPCs. I never wanted to kill a named NPC but killing guards or NPCs that have simular names such as "Villager" that respawn never bother me because I don't feel like I'll lose a quest in the future.

I wouldn't mind 1000 NPCs that are consistent like Oblivion but then give us regular no brainer "Villagers" that we can loot, plunder or kill. I think this would even make the world look that much more populated. Every time someone in Oblivion died I thought to myself... I hope he wasn't important "Reload". (If you're really against the generic villager name idea then make a name generator and give us the ability to look at bio's of all NPCs so we have an idea who's not important and who IS important)

I think Red Dead Redemption and Assassins Creed 2 Brotherhood got these right! Also I want a brotherhood like assassins creed where i can call out assassins.. omg that would be awesome. End

I hope the Dragon attack would happen as soon as you enter in the city and it will land outside with guards holding it off and then you come in and defeat it.

Dragons aren't called World Eaters. Alduin, who takes the form of a dragon but is in fact a god, is called the World Eater by the Nords.

But in truth Akatosh is really the saviour so in killing him dooms the continent of tamriel and all hell breaks loose and eventually the elves try to take over again and are next game is in Summerset Isle.

my guess would be important NPC's will run inside and the rest will just run around to give you a sense of panic.

as for a house or other buildings being lit on fire, maybe mages will run up and cast water spells on it(elder scrolls firefighters? if possible) or when the fire burns out it will just leave a burnt patch/hole and later it will show npc's fixing the damage. but those are just my ideas of how it could be done, i'm sure they are not the best.

Oh boy, I can foresee the mess if this happens in a town.

I hope they don't become an inconvenience, so that I'm not fighting a dragon every 10 or so times I go to a new town.
I hope they're not scripted, but I want all (or most) NPCs to run inside and lock their doors when a dragon attacks. Meanwhile, it'd be good if all the soldiers ran around swinging at the air frantically in order to hopelessly combat the dragon, while random damage is caused to the town (burning roofs, damaged walls).
I just don't want characters dying on me all the time.

The attacks will be scripted. The radiant AI and story would only manage problems whe conserning this.

I think.

I think that if they want to leave alive important npcs they won't let the dragon attack a village until the npcs quest aren't finished or until they are in a safe place.

Can you provide a source for that statement?
