Simulated Deafness?

I've noticed how after loud noises (charges, grenades etc.) the sound becomes different, kind of like when you have water in you ear, anyone else heard that in a game before?

Also, don't you love the little piano note when you die? It's like, sad instead of angry, and cuts through the rest of the game without being disruptive, as your "dying" hormones kick in, the pain goes, it feels like it's all over, but sort of relaxing just because it's all over, yet nervous as you don't know what happens when you die, or if your team, community, and family will be okay.

That kind of sudden deafness has been in HL2 and Bad Company 2, too.

The audio in that video is indeed somewhat messed up. Not sure why, but it is. Anyway, with all of the attention to detail and extensive work they've put into the sounds, I seriously doubt they would want to deafen players too often.
