A Saves tool that manages player profiles. Displays the masters list for each save, allows to activate the appropriate plugins for each save. It also has ability to reorder the saves numbers.

** All additional save data files (in Oblivion: pluggy, obse, Bash folder, and streamline) are taken into account. any none-save related file is ignored.

      • Red background & bold white font - plugin is corrupted or invalid for the selected game.

    • Display all plugin details in a separate window (right-click on a plugin).
    • For advanced users only, Esmify/Espify plugin and masters (blocked by default).

  • .::Saves Tab::.

      • Move / copy saves between profiles.

    • Profiles functions (Right-click on profiles drop-down list):

    • Set the starting game and tab by changing the executable file name or command line arguments:
      • Starting- New Vegas saves.. Rename file to 'FNV_saves.exe' or add arguments 'falloutNV' 'saves'.
      • Starting- New Vegas Plugins.. Rename file to 'FNV_plugins.exe' or add arguments 'falloutNV' 'plugins'.
      • Starting- Fallout3 saves.. Rename file to 'FO3_saves.exe' or add arguments 'fallout3' 'saves'.
      • Starting- Fallout3 Plugins.. Rename file to 'FO3_plugins.exe' or add arguments 'fallout3' 'plugins'.
      • Starting- Oblivion saves.. Rename file to 'TES4_saves.exe' or add arguments 'oblivion' 'saves'.
      • Starting- Oblivion Plugins.. Rename file to 'TES4_plugins.exe' or add arguments 'oblivion' 'plugins'.
      • ** Espify/Esmify is blocked by default. This function is strictly for modding purposes and can only cause trouble if you don't know what it does.
        To enable it, add a 'developer' argument in command line.
        As was explained to me by ElminsterEU, it is potentialy problematic in Fallout3. so if you do use 'Espify' to work on a plugin in the GECK, be sure to use ElminsterEU's FO3MasterUpdate afterwards.

Good to see this here :goodjob:
Not that I understand half of what it does, or used all of it (for FO3) but I find the savegame part most helpful :)

I'm not understanding the version numbers (as described in changelog).

Last February http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1041542-relzbetathe-simple-manager/page__view__findpost__p__15615600 with the then current version and have not yet received a reply. I use Wrye Bash to create save game profiles.

Can you say more about this:
.:: Conflicts / Known Problems ::..
The saves module will not work if you manually changed the Saves directory location.
Perhaps it is related to the problem.

It seems to work find with F3 but not at all well with Oblivion. It will open the saves tab and after about 3 error reports then allow me to manage the saves, but if I open the plugins tab then forget it - it crashes hard every time with many errors.

Here is a small snippit of errors from the log:
BINARY_READerror | at Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | Boolean ReadDetails() | Plugin reader errorBINARY_READerror | at Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | Boolean ReadDetails() | Plugin reader errorBINARY_READerror | at Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | Boolean ReadDetails() | Plugin reader errorBINARY_READerror | at Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | Boolean ReadDetails() | Plugin reader errorBINARY_READerror | at Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | Boolean ReadDetails() | Plugin reader error11/25/2010 4:38:33 AM | FILE_RENAME error | at Simple_Manage.Oblivion | method: Void set_Name(System.String) | Rename save error11/25/2010 4:38:34 AM | FILE_RENAME error | at Simple_Manage.Oblivion | method: Void set_Name(System.String) | Rename save error11/25/2010 4:38:34 AM | FILE_RENAME error | at Simple_Manage.Oblivion | method: Void set_Name(System.String) | Rename save error11/25/2010 4:38:35 AM | FILE_RENAME error | at Simple_Manage.Oblivion | method: Void set_Name(System.String) | Rename save error11/25/2010 4:38:36 AM | FILE_RENAME error | at Simple_Manage.Oblivion | method: Void set_Name(System.String) | Rename save error11/25/2010 4:38:36 AM | FILE_RENAME error | at Simple_Manage.Oblivion | method: Void set_Name(System.String) | Rename save error

I'm not seeing if this is addressed in the readme, but will none the less update now.

[edit] Ohh the new version is throwing no errors and I like how I can have more than one version by renaming the exe.

Could you write more about how to add the argument to the exe - can you, for instance, add multiple arguments to allow one instance to open various versions?

I stopped following the forums and nexus sites more than a year ago, I returned just now for New Vegas. happy to hear that the new version works for you :) .

Adding arguments to the command line is done in the application shortcut properties. In the 'Target' space of the 'Shortcut' tab.
My target line looks like: E:\MODZ_stuff\Fallout_NV\SimpleManage\FNV_Plugins.exe developer .
It would have worked the same if it was S_Manager.exe falloutnv plugins developer .
the arguments have priority over the application name, using: FNV_Plugins.exe oblivion saves, means it'll start with oblivion saves tab.

what do you mean "open various versions"?
If you mean different startup options, you can make a different shortcut for every game, each with his own arguments. Each will start the application with the game of your choice.

In the previous versions of this you could right click on the save game image file and then choose either Oblivion or F3 - now it seems that to use with more than one game one needs either a separate exe of separate shortcuts for each game.

Is that correct?

and thanks for updating this.

Not at all.
you can still right-click anywhere that is not a control (button/combo-box/list) or the tabs title and get a menu to launch the game or show other installed games.
If only one game is installed, the option to select others is hidden. by installed I mean present in the registry.

Well Strange so it worked last night but not tonight. From the log:12/4/2010 6:25:32 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 6:25:33 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:05:49 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:05:50 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:05:50 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:02 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:03 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/4/2010 7:06:03 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()
Repeated for 3x as long.

I had remanamed it to TES4_saves.exe

It threw the usual 3 errors on opening the saves I then see the plugins tab and clicked on it then got many more of the same error until it froze and had to use task manager to close.

I'm suspicious that it has to do with using http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1142151-rel-mtes4-manager/, but these errors were the same as the previous version that I had cited before and occurred long before I ever used mTES4 Manager.

It seems as though the saves tab works though after it throws those errors, but the plugins tab - no.

What am I missing?

This is the first I'm hearing of mTES4 Manager. after reading a little, It definitely seems to conflict with my app.
mTES4 relies on manually changing the default directories names and handling it itself. my app relies on reading the games path from the registry and the original names that the games installer sets.
I will fix the bug that causes a crash (I'm guessing that's happening due to an invalid install path in the registry), but for the moment it seems you cannot use mTES4 and my app together.

I don't think it is mTES4 manager as this is the same issue I had way back 8+ months ago. Long before even the necessity of mTES4 manager was present (the release of Nehrim).

But I could be wrong.

People often take mTES4 Manager to mean that it provides multiple install paths - it does not it swaps installs out and allows multiple installs (clones) to use the same install path.

I see. perhaps it does something else. does it keep constant background hold on the data folder?
According to your error log, something is preventing read-access to the plugin files.

I'll look farther into it.

I don't know what keeping a background hold on the data folder means. that might be a question for Gaticus.

What it does do is swap out entire Oblivion directories ... data and all. So that when inactive they are definitely in a different file path but the active one is always called Oblivion and is in the installed file path.

and again this is the same errors (as quoted in my first post here) that I had long before mTES4 Manager and game swapping of any kind.

I use Vista 64 edition and UAC is active - is this attempting to get information from the plugins.txt in the AppData folder - maybe that is the issue ... though I doubt it as both Wrye Bash and OBMM do that without issue.

Sure I access plugins.txt. That's the only place to inform the game of it's load order.
I use Win7 myself, but I silenced UAC long ago.

Errr - I've no intention of turning UAC off - if that is what you mean by silence.

Well it has improved with Oblivion.

two errors when opening saves two errors when opening plugins.
12/12/2010 10:30:08 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/12/2010 10:30:09 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/12/2010 10:31:14 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()12/12/2010 10:31:15 PM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()
The difference is that the plugins tab now opens.

Its working but grumpy.
well going through my saves I found a few that were giving locations that were not English and had many accents and so on (locations from a foreign mod no doubt) - but removing them did not stop the errors.

I did put in a request for Wrye bash to have this functionality (renumber saves), so if that ever happens I will be switching to Bash as the main save game manager.

I thank you for looking at this.

Foreign language wouldn't cause errors even if the text itself won't display correctly. I'm guessing you have some other app that's conflicting with mine over access to the plugin files.
perhaps I'll tweak the error reporting to give me a better hint of the problem.
PS: The reason I started this project 3 years ago was because Wrye wasn't interested in renumbering saves (though it's a very simple function, compared to others in Bash).

thanx for the feedback :)

Wrye has moved on and handed development over to others and many new and great features have been built into the already good goodness that Wrye created. Pacific Morrowind is the lead now.

I do expect him back before 11-11-11 though.

and thanks for listening.

Same error:
12/21/2010 2:55:41 AM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()
12/21/2010 2:55:42 AM | BINARY_READ_ERROR | source: Simple_Manage.SinglePlugin | method: Boolean ReadDetails()

Again I'm only reporting this because I'm not certain if this latest release was meant to address it. Please don't feel hurried or harassed - after the errors it works, so I'm not complaining.

It's wasn't. not directly as least (I think your problem is caused by another application conflicting with mine).
Anyway, bug reports with an error log are always welcome. how else can I improve my work?! 8)
