General Oblivion Questions-New to the game

Do not look at the second link until you become more experienced in adding mods, I am not being offensive, but FCOM is a very difficult setup to install and run just by itself.

I have to disagree with this advice. I was in the exact same situation, I knew almost nothing about how to install mods.

Previously I had only used one very small Oblivion mod, Vampire Aging Disabled, and I had never installed any mod for any previous game in my life.

Then 6 months ago, I tried to do a major overhaul, and it seems that it is much easier to do everything at once, so you can install things in the proper order, rather than, say installing OOO now, MMM later and then trying to add FCOM after you have a couple of overhaul mods already installed.

In my personal journey, I found it easiest to do as follows:

(1) make a list of all the mods I wanted to install,
(2) before installing anything, post each step of my intended installation plan in the mod section of this forum
(3) get some feedback to make sure I was following the proper steps
(4) revise my installation plan accordingly
(5) install everything in the proper order and start a new game

I ended up installing about 150+ mods, and despite a couple of minor things like missing textures, googly eyes, etc., after a couple hours of tweaking with Wyre Bash (and dowloading some missing resource files for Better Cities), everything was running perfectly and has continued to this date.

At the very least I would suggest, if you want to try some new textures or smaller mods first, proceed but hold off on installing any of the "overhaul" mods like OOO, MMM, Frans, FCOM, until you are ready to install all of the overhauls you are interested in at the same time.
