Polish Army Beret not working?

Post » Wed Nov 17, 2010 8:02 am

The Polish Army Beret mod doesn't work in the game. Well, it loads and everything, but when I try wearing it it just shows up as the exclamation mark. I've tried to see if I could see what was wrong with the models but there were no Nif files. I don't know what I did wrong or what, but it's worked for others(obviously). Could someone download this and test it and tell me if it works or not? If it does, I'd like to know how you did it.

I just downloaded the mod from http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5728 page and opened the archive. My copy of the archive had four .nif files in the PolishArmyBeretsv1\Data\meshes\armor\headgear\polishberet\ folder.

Maybe you got a corrupted or incomplete download. Try downloading the mod again and see if that helps.

Cool, just downloaded and found the Nif files. I don't know what was wrong the first time.

Just downloaded it and tried it for you. http://a.imageshack.us/img135/4603/berets.jpg Unless your character has a pinhead, you'll probably have to fix it with Nifskope.

Yikes! Looks like the whole thing is way undersized. Might look okay on a child.

I think I'll pass on this one.

easiest way would be to go into nifskope and simply transform the beret to maybe 1.2-1.3 the original size

Actually, no. I tested it out in game. See, http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/5097/qaa.png!
It looks perfect and matches my outfit. I only had to make very minor adjustments to my forehead and make my head a little thinner, and it turned out to fit just perfect all around. I think Ghoulsrpeople2's head was probably the size of a watermelon :P
And Charon has an enormous forehead as it is :o

WTH, I'll try it - I'm installing a couple of other mods anyway.

I'm intrigued as to why it works for you but not for ghouls.

ETA - never mind. The mod author says in the readme that it'll clip with any hair other than a buzz cut. Ain't gonna happen with this character. :P

Cool, I'd like to see how it turns out for you. Another thing, Ghouls' hairstyle is really huge and poofy, and I don't think the beret is supposed to have been made for also that haircut. So, what I think is that it only goes on her head but the hair goes through anyway since it isn't a vanilla style. And as said, Charon's head is ENORMOUS, literally, so you can't give that to him..

Cool! I'm glad it works on your character. Maybe it's hair it has the problem with. It clips all over Charon's big head.

Edit: Ah, thanks Gator Country. I missed that. I didn't think Kelsey had that big a noggin'.

I'm glad you mentioned Kelsey, because I just installed her and am ready to take her for a spin. However, BOSS doesn't recognize her so it doesn't know where to load her in my order. Should she go high or low?

I have my companions at the bottom of my load order after FWE/WMK/MMM.

Is your character male or female? Male buzzcut looks fine, at least on my character. I'd understand if your character were female, though. But that's just me, I always have buzzcut/buzzsaw haircut.

That's what I tried, too. Seems to be working okay so far, but I can't get Kelsey to come into my Megaton house. I'm using a house mod, so it may be related to that.

Thanks for the reply.

My character's female, and she's real picky about her hair. I'll probably start a male character before too much longer, and I'll try that mod out on him. I don't have much of my RL hair left, so my guys tend to have theirs pretty short as well. :hehe:

That's pretty much what I try doing. When I used to have long hair, I'd have my male characters with the longest vanilla hair(Unsettler, and I'm not a fan of hair mods). Now that I cut my hair very short, I stick to buzz hair. But I didn't know the beret didn't support long hair, so I'm probably going to keep my current character with short hair anyway.
