adding multiple static objects quickly?

Post » Sun Nov 21, 2010 1:23 pm

I was wondering if there's a way to add multiple static objects at once as new objects? I'm using Meo's vault tileset (found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13078 ) and there's a lot to it; is there a function, or home made tool to ass them automatically, with the file names as the tile name?

Depending on what your looking to accomplish, http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/gamesas_Tutorial_Static_Collections may be the right solution. With SCOLing your taking a number of existing statics and combining them into a single new static, like glueing a bunch of legos together. You can multi-select the statics you want to join and press Control-G then Yes to join them into a new object.

There is no other known batch process for creating individual NIF files from scratch using the GECK other than SCOLing. If your simply looking to add new objects to the game, those have to be done one at a time.

Luck,

To do what you want, simply drag the files from the game folder and drop them in the Object Window of the GECK. They will be automatically added to the GECK as resources you can now place into the Render Window.

Interesting!

What FormID name do they get? I just tried it, and it seems to let me drop the item in, but I can't find it by it's filename or any of the tags in the NIF?

Thanks!

The form id would be new, just like adding a new object one at a time. Except you will have a list of new objects.
It should get its name from the 'filename' of the object you added. I never do this because I am OCD and prefer to have more control over the name. Even though you can rename it later... You should be able to quickly scan down the list and look for objects with a * near them showing new items.

You learn a few things when you have been modding Beth games for 8+ years.

Thats awesome, thanks for the tip! :) I think that is incredibly useful in certain situations - way cool.

I know what you mean - I have only been modding the Bethesda platform for 2 years now and still feel like a newbie. :teehee:

Cheers! :)
