How do you like your Kinect?

Post » Mon Nov 22, 2010 11:32 am

I am surprised not much talk is going on about the Kinect or the Move lately. I am thinking of getting a Kinect for me and the kids. So how do you guys and girls like it? What games do you like, and what games don't you like?

Same for the PS3 move. I will not get one, because I don't want to be buying 2 controllers to play it, and that would end up costing the same as the Kinect I believe. I could be wrong here, so please correct me if I am. How do you like the Move? What games are good for it and what games do people need to stay away from? I am shocked there is no talk about the Move at all but alot of news sites talk about the Kinect.

How is your experiances on it? Good, bad, or ugly? Do you recomend it? What games do you recomend?

Please don't turn this into a Kinect vs The Move. I included The Move so I am not leaving PS3 users out as well who may like to talk about thier platform fun. :)

I used one quite a bit over winter break. It was one of the worst input methods I had ever used. Input delay was close to 1 second in the games I tried. Just a stupid gimmick that people eat up because it fits well with the vision of "THE FUTURE" from 80's Sci-Fi.

My little brother and sister got a kinect they enjoy it. I found it pretty interesting but didnt mess with it much. I say if its something you think your kids would like its worth the buy. Kinectimals is cute and fun so is the game it comes with.

For me, here it's $150 Canadian. Maybe 2 bucks cheaper but easier to say $150. :D. Also if I get Xbox Live Gold now, I get Kinectmals free I believe. That is if the promotion is still on.

Only one word can describe the Kinect and motion-gaming in general: Meh.

It's fun, but in a I'm-gonna-play-when-I-go-to-my-friend's-house-whose-parents-actually-bought-the-blasted-thing-not-knowing-they-would-eventually-never-use-it way.

I have a wii, which is basically the same expirience as playstation move.
There are 2 kind of game at Wii that use these controls:
The casual min-game games like wii sports, and the traditional games like mario or zelda.

Regarding party games,I'd say that they are not on my taste.
Yeah, they are extremely fan when you have your friends and play let's say 4 player multiplayer, but for buying 2 separate controllers that cost 70 euros for each player is something somewhat expensive IMO,unless everyone brings his own controllers, but again my friends don't have wiis,so I only played those party mini games the first week.

Regarding "traditional" games I will have to say that I liked the new controlls but without getting excited about them.
Wii controllers have both an anologue stick and d-pad so you can play games like that while sitting, which is something nice.
What I found most nice wasn't the gimmick of moving my arms to do things, but the fact that as there are two parts and you can hold each part on each hand,it lets you place your hands at a distance one from the other, which makes playing more comfortable than with a traditional controller that you have hold in the air all the times.
I mean I would just sit leaving one arm sitting to my one leg,and the other hand to the other leg,and move my wrists.
The fact that you can just let your hands sit anywhere and keep playing is something good because you don't have to have your arms raised all the time at a position that might become uncomfortable after some hours of playing.

After my xbox360 died for the 4th time,I didn't bothered getting another one so now I only play at my gaming pc or wii.
And I can say that having used to these two very different control schemes,it's too difficult for me to go back to the traditional controllers.
Pc gives me optimal accuracy because of it's mouse, and when I have to sacrifice the accuracy I play at wii which makes up because it's lot's more comfortable to play.
I still have the xbox 360 controller attached to my pc,but anytime I try to play games using it,I see that I miss lot's of accuracy, and that my hands get tired by not having them resting and I turn back to mouse+keyboard immediately.

I don't have one, and don't have any plans to buy one...

But then I saw that the sequel to Steel Battalion, a game that I never had the honor of playing, was being developed for use with the Kinect.

I cursed the heavens that day.

I have it and still only own the one game that came with it. I have played Dance Central and Kinect Sports. Both great games to play with a group of people, but completely pointless to play alone.

Since I usually game alone (i'm greedy like that) theres really no sense in getting them. The only decent kinect game coming out that i can think of is Forza 4.

We have a Kinect, my teens like it.
They have the Dance Central, and the Kinect pack that came with the game, Kinect Adventures.... or something.
The kids liked the river rafting game of the Adventure Pack, and the animal overdubbed with human voices was the favorite of intoxicated advlts.

I find the Move ads most disturbing. The ones where it looks like two drunk guys broke into a rich guy's house to play his PS3 Move, accompanied for some reason by a tripping Frankie Sandford.
