Converting Textures from Photoshop to gimp

Post » Wed Nov 24, 2010 12:59 am

Hello, i know it has been some time since I've posted :P but i have come arross some great tutorials on all different tutorials. Now i they are in photoshop and i would like to send them to gimp and convert to dds. Could this be done via making it a jpeg then in gimp saving it as a dds just like in Artistens blender to fallout video? or os there another way to go about this.

Thanks,

I'm not sure why you would want to transfer your textures from Photoshop to GIMP, especially if you are just using GIMP to convert the texture to .dds format.

Perhaps you're already aware of this, but NVIDIA has released a free http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html for Photoshop that converts textures into the .dds format, and it can also be used to create normal maps.

Unless you have the 64-bit version of Photoshop. The DDS plugin does not work for PS then.
Fortunately I have Photoshop elements v2.0. Its a bit old but it works great.
