Dragonorn misconceptions

Post » Tue Nov 30, 2010 1:29 pm

Being the Dragonborn does not mean you are half dragon nor does it mean you are an Imperial male nor a member of the Septim blood line by default.

I keep seeing people say things like, "How can Dovakin be a Dunmer" or some such thing. The next dragonborn can be a Kajiit if the gods will it.

EDIT: Can a mod fix my typo in the thread title? My keyboard is all jacked up.

Yes. The Dragonborn were just mortals whose blood was mystically (mystically being the important word) joined with that of the dragons (possibly Akatosh/Alduin specifically.) The most well-known are the bloodline of the emperors, beginning with St. Allesia, but there is nothing in the lore that says no one else ever became Dragonborn or that it would be in any way impossible for them to do so. Especially since the binding of bloods is mystical in nature.

I really don't see the point of this thread. If you're unhappy about these misconceptions I'd recommend just waiting it out, or replying civilly to constructive threads on the topic. But starting a thread just to complain about gthis fact doesn't really help.
