Improving Nova's "services", without making it dirty

Post » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:09 pm

Hi guys, After about a year's hiatus thanks to life and a dead laptop, I've begun work again on a mod project maybe, oh, one of you might remember? *coughUnitycough*

Anyhoo, it's a town mod, and in this town, there's certain NPCs who happen to be in the same line of work as http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Nova in Moriarty's Saloon. The problem is, I find the way Bethesda implemented Nova into the game to be a little underwhelming, so I'd like to make my "ladies of ill repute" to be a little more entertaining, and perhaps make people want to accquire their services without it becoming too gimmicky.

Now, this is important: I want this particular service to be just as tame as Nova's, but more rewarding. So, I was thinking about adding some new perks. The first one will act like Well Rested- that is, you get it after recieving the aforementioned services and it appears in place of Well Rested (because it's not likely you would've gotten much rest!), and it wears off after time. The second will be a (permanent) perk you recieve after using these services multiple times, and have become more, erm, experienced.

The thing is, I'm having trouble coming up with names for these perks, and what they should actually do.

Any ideas?

I like the direction this idea goes. :lightbulb:
Giving the Ladys some more usefulness is a big win in my book.

Maybe gaining some temporary perks from having spent a night with them.

From Well rested kind of perks, to charisma and other character stats boost related perks.
Maybe a womanizer perk that enables the male \ female Player to gain the reputation (or experience) like you mentioned that disables all hostility from females npc. (if possible)

Or maybe give every Lady ( don't know how many prosttutes are in the game or will be ) her own set of perk rewards she can give the player.
One Lady can give the player social stat boosts, while another gives physical ones or certain skills bonuses.

Maybe a set of harmless STD's as a counter balance to all those perks. (nothing to explicit or Realworld like)

Some kind of mini games involving or trying to 'talk up' the lady to gain additional temporary bonuses or discounts or toys that again can deal bonuses in a small way (lol)...and after choosing the right dialog path \ choices.
Again 'right way' differs with each lady.

That is all i can come up with for now. :whistling:

As for perk names... (sorry no stats included...that needs more thinking than names)

-Disciple of (paid) love.
-Kamasutrian
-Jack the Slipper
-The Love Trader
-Masters of Toys (the other kind of toys)
-Pimp Daddy (p.diddy parody)
-Vault Casanova
-dike in Tracy
-Gonzo extraordinaire (if Player carries a PhotoCamera)
-Jeremy, Ron of the Wastes
-Randy Rand (lol)
-Bruce Campbell of Love
-Evil Lay'er
-Master of Poppets

Lol had fun, hope i don't get banned for those.

people please contribute. :hubbahubba:

lol, I love the sound of Jack the Slipper. I guess it could be some kind of Lady Killer style perk?
And the STD idea seems like a goodie... maybe in the form of some kind of mutation of fungal infection? ("You have mushrooms growing where there were no mushrooms before! You should probably have a doctor look at it"). :D

Fallout 2 implemented the ability to be a porm star, and you could have children. So, assuming the secret to the pill has been lost, you get a companion after a few years. For female players, time should advance in that case for about 5 years. Another option "to make it interesting" would be transmitted diseases. Don't forget to let the doctor say "Yuck" when he treats those illnesses ...

I don't know if a kid would be exactly a feasable idea, but it's interesting nonetheless. :)
Could make for an interesting line of dialogue anyway.

I have never played 1 character long enough to have a kid... do people really play 1 character for many in-game years?

I've found that time passes too slowly for that. Only reason I ever accumulated years in my oblivion days was because I had a mod that forced time advances upon conducting a repeatable action. (Pirate mod)

Does anyone actually take Lady Killer/Black Widow? I'd say give those as perks after you've done it X number of times, maybe I could eventually see the unique dialogue options those have (all 3 of them ).

Maybe an immediate "bonus" could be a large boost to luck (like 5 points, you're feeling good and lucky) and a reduction in endurance (like 2 points, you're tired), + the well rested perk but just named something different for obvious reasons, but the 10% xp or whatever it is.

In addition you could make it like a drug so if you do it to often you get addicted and suffer withdrawls (a nympho or something :hubbahubba:), give a bonus to charisma with the withdrawal but some other negative effects that outweigh it (I don't know, lower action points or something, constantly "in the mood" so you move around slower cause you're trying to hide it or something horribly [censored] I don't know  ).

You know, those are the best ideas so far. Love 'em. :D

How many actual dialogue options do you get? Like for every quest or just a few because I always assume/heard its only useful for a couple few quests.

yeah, the dialogue options are quite limited. I really get it for the increased damage to the opposite six.
