To me, the Eel shirt looks like a black version of Altair's top.

I'm gonna feel rather derp for stating this but maybe some stuff like Final Fantasy 7 like Cloud's outfit from the movie, or definitely Vincent's jacket, or something along the lines. Maybe even Leon's jacket from Final Fantasy 8. Feel free to shoot me for those comments, just think it'd be interesting, that and I'm a huge FF fan. :unsure:
