Many things wrong with this statement but the main one being that Skyrim shouldn't be like morrowind. Yes morrowind is a classic and will always have a special place amongst true TES fans but people need to stop being blinded by nostalgia. Skyrim should be like SKYRIM and nothing else. Its a new chapter in this hallowed series and will have a destiny of its own. Not follow another games destiny.

I find that its rarely nostalgia talking. Most people here that mention Fallout 1 still have Fallout 1 (and usually 2) installed, and play them. They know what they are talking about and what they are missing, or want to make clear. Its not fond memories talking. I think the same goes for Morrowind more often than not.

If it were nostalgia it would be all too easy for those opposed, to disprove with the facts; I haven't seen much of anything disproved ~only made light of.

Not follow another games destiny.
This comment is interesting to me, as I would consider all games of a defined series to be following the original game's destiny ~or rather, intended path. [To me] that's what being a series means ~following a derived path.

**As opposed to following divergent paths ~take for example Dawn of War and Space Marine... Both are licensed Warhammer 40k titles ~same company even, but they are completely different games. Unrelated but for the shared IP; the same goes for Warcraft 1, 2 & 3 ~and World of Warcraft.
To look at it, Fallout 3 should have done the same ~because in a dozen was it is the same.

It's not nostagia for me man, you're right about that. I have all three of those games installed, and still play them. I was just playing Morrowind today. And the older Fallouts are just, well, matchless.

Doom and Quake were basically the same game using different engines. When people say "Oblivion with guns" they usually mean that it boils down to the same activity and treatment, but with guns; they might also be referring to AI and engine quirks. It rarely means setting or art. Fallout 3 used the updated Oblivion engine. The resource files even mention Tamriel. IMO it was the same game, but with Fallout draqery and cosmetic rule changes. (That doesn't mean it wasn't a good game or not a fun game, but IMO it was Oblivion with guns).

TES isn't Fallout. They are 2 separate games and each one should be unique. I don't want Fallout in TES and I'm sure the Fallout fans don't want TES in their Fallout.

No their not. They are the same game with two different themes. The only difference is Fallout was made later and thus has better features that should, and will be in Skyrim. Such as followers.

So, wait, you're saying that Skyrim is Fallout with magic, which is Oblivion with guns?

I'm not worried at all that it's going to be like Fallout, because they're two different games, and both really good RPGs. I'm a little iffy on what they've told us about how they're changing things, but I won't know until I try it, which won't happen until I read 50 reviews online after it comes out.

If Bethesda ever decides to make a football game, it will be Oblivion with cheerleaders.

Bethesda did make a http://members.chello.at/theodor.lauppert/games/gridiron.htm.

Anyway I'm not worried. Then again, I'm a gamer from back before people isolated themselves into little gaming ghettos. We just played games. With more games now, it seems people can avail themselves of defining sub-subgenres.

it is a possibility that it could be fallout with magic but i highly doubt Bethesda would ruin the TES series by doing that

If it's Fallout with magic, it would mean it's Oblivion, since Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns. :P

I was about to post the exact same thing, and then I saw it was the second post up there. Aha, just please no "Ye Olde V.A.T.S." Otherwise they should take a few great ideas from the Fallout franchise.

I agree with the first post. The fallout the Bethesda worked on came from oblivion, so you can't really go back from fallout to TES. Skyrim is going to be like oblivion getting a huge albeit much needed update. That's pretty much it.

Skyrim will obviously be fallout with magic because fallout was totally oblivion with guns.
