What do you plan to mod in first? If not a modder, choose what you'd like us to mod.
Not sure how the vanilla game is going to be. If they don't do the UI right then that is a first MUST and also Interior lighting.

First I'm going to make a cottage by a lake (morning swims anyone) for the player
Second going to make a tavern maybe the Drunken Soldier or something like that
Third going to either make a Dark Brotherhood extension or a new guild which I have been planning and preparing for since I started Oblivion unfortunately it didn't work out since my skill was quite limited at the time

Dwemer airships and devices.

A mod that can terminate fast travel.
Transportation system a la Morrowind.
Possibly also a hardcoe mode if that's not in.
Also any mod that gets rid of quest markers, health bars, etc... and then hopefully find a mod that adds "immersive health indicators" (blur, heartbeat, panting sounds, etc) to replace any HUD that pops up during combat or the like.

Promote that man!

COMPLETELY POINTLESS, blah blah some garbage

...CAN you even think?

Relax, guy. Your example is rubbish, anyway. You're comparing an in-game mechanic to a metagaming mechanic.

I have an idea for a fairly unique player home(imho) and a dragon shout that I would like to add. I am also excited because not only am I going to have a new comp by 11-11, I will also drop some cash into a digitizer which I am hoping will allow me to texture a bit better. If nothing else hopefully I will have some cool sketches to accompany my mods :mohawk:

Game play tweaks...
Mostly because I tend to be picky, and that has nothing to do with how good they did it. I always think, what could I do?

As for mod ability? I think it will be less. Most things will be hard written. I think this game will be better then most can anticipate. It really won't need the massive face lifts of the past.
Look at the mod communities right now. Oblivion has the biggest, then comes Fallout 3, then came New Vegas...(I know they didn't write Vegas, but it is still apart of the line) As the series progresses, they learn through what mods became popular, and then they incorporate that into the new game.
As they do that mods become less and less of an overhaul. I think they realize this and the Creation Kit will allow for some awesome displays of creativity, but it will be less customizable. There won't be a need either.

The thing is, Niftools is third party software. What I'd really like to see is a Creation Kit built in importer/exporter with official documentation(not likely though).
Niftool's easier that most I agree but it could be easier.
The thing I'm really curious about is Havok behaviour, I doubt it will be released to the public. How much impact is that going to have in modelling?(specially custom creature/entities)

Can't you use Havok yourself at no cost if your not doing it for profit, I thought I read that on the Havok site?
