I think Bethesda's hype machine runs a little smoother than Blizzard's. Not to say Blizzard doesn't know how to do hype but Bethesda has it down to a fine art. I think Blizzard released too much information too soon, which is an obvious problem when you don't know when a game will be finished. Bethesda on the other hand knows exactly when Skyrim will be released and knows exactly when to release information and in what amount.

At this point I've seen enough screenshots and video footage (which I think is over an hour's worth) of Diablo 3 to have a good idea of what content is in the game. Skyrim has comparatively only a handful of screenshots and less than 5 minutes of video footage of actual gameplay so there's still a lot of burning questions.

As for me personally, Skyrim and Diablo 3 are the only two games coming out that I give a crap about. Nothing about Skyrim is going to make me not want to buy Diablo 3 and vice versa.

Nah, other games don't really make me lose interest. I played Diablo 2 a lot, still do sometimes, everyone knows Blizzard and their philosophy so I'll just wait until they consider it to be done. Be patient. Also, Skyrim is a game that is different to Diablo 3 on so many levels, that I don't even consider them to be comparable.

I don't bother playing Blizzard games. Not really interested in any of them and I hate WoW.

Meh, I'm not as excited as I was on the day of the announcement. It's more of a feeling of thoroughly nice expectations. Yes, I like the style and classes, especially being able to choose my gender.
It was revealed much too early, and that's probably a first for Blizzard. That is a fact. They should be more cautious with their next announcement - and they probably are, given the hoopla about the Chinese release schedule.

Im not interested in. It just diablo 2 with 3d graphics. Plaah. And feels too much like a wow.

Only game series that i will buy from blizzard anymore is a warcraft. It never has dissapointed me and it never feeled like cash milking.(rts series).
Starcraft 2 was [censored], diablo also went downhill with diablo2 and it seems it goes again even more with diablo3.

To be honest, I lost interest in Blizzard after I was done with WoW. When I was done with it, I just felt done with the company. They seem more interested in WoW than anything else, despite having 2/3 of their franchises (pre-WoW) being RTSes. Since then, I've fallen in love with other RTSes, and just cannot get excited about D3 or SC2.

However, I will always remember D1, D2 (espeically D2), Starcraft, and Warcraft III with fond memories. Back in the day when units blew up into piles of gore in isometric view.

Plenty interested in Diablo III and seeing as I have no interest in Skyrim whatsoever, it hasn't affected that. I'm not much of a Blizzard person in general, never cared for StarCraft or Warcraft, but Diablo has always done a pretty good job of svcking up my free time and I can't imagine the third being any different. I don't care how colorful it is or that it shares a similar look as World of Warcraft (which I've played very little of).

It's still nowhere near being my most anticipated game, especially without a release date, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.

IMHO: Torchlight is the "real" Diablo 3. Everyone who made Diablo famous switched to Runic Games, like Max Schaefer or Matt Uelmen.

+ I don't like Blizzards "The consumer is an idiot and everything needs to look like WoW"-mentality

I've pretty much lost interest in Blizzard altogether, though in the past they were by far my favourite company. Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Diablo 1, Diablo 2 and starcraft were all favrouites of mine and took up a ton of my time. Diablo 1 was one of my first computer games, and I still think it's awesome. I even prefer it to Diablo 2, even if I put way more hours into D2 playing with my friends. the LoD expansion never really did it for me, and I stopped playing around then. Don't like the runes giving all sorts of abilities. I was really excited when D3 was announced, but have completely lost interest over time. The art direction hand a hand in that as well. I doubt I will pick it up right away, maybe a few years down the road when I can get it cheap.

Yeah, I'm not digging the WoWish look to Blizzard's recent games. Liked the darker and gritter look to SC and D1/2, instead of the more cartoony look WoW and the recent games. WCIII I gave a pass, because I thought it was pretty good as a RTS.

But, I find myself loving DoW I, up to Dark Crusade, as my favorite RTS. Plus, I like how the game has squads instead of individual units.

Torchlight is a terrible alternative for Diablo. A better Diablo like game would be Titan Quest.

Yeah or Sacred 2. Torchlight is more like a better version of Fate, which was suppose to be like Diablo although for kids. I guess that game Dungeons looks similar to Diablo too.

I'm still pretty interested in Diablo 3, but it's become like Guild Wars 2 (even though I'm a bit more excited for GW 2), not as much excitement since I know it's going to be 1-2 years before they're released. So Skyrim has taken their place for now, as it actually has a release date.

As others have said I'm much more looking forward to Skyrim than Diablo III. I was a huge Diablo II fan - played it daily for over a year. Still, after 10 years of waiting for the next installment I've kind of lost interest in the franchise. Blizzard just got way to wrapped up in WoW to the detriment of their single player games. One shouldn't have had to wait a decade for Starcraft II and the same for Diablo III. I might play it down the road, but only after I've given Skyrim all the time it deserves.

I look forward to playing Diablo III when it comes out. The long span of time it has taken for them to develop it, and to finally release it, doesn't matter much to me when there are countless other games to play in the meantime. Who sits around waiting on one game anyway? There are so many to choose from, I don't know why anyone would "give up" on an upcoming game because it's not coming as quick as they want. Blizzard is a highly respected company and they're not going to release a sequel to one of their most recognized and beloved franchises without giving it the polish it deserves. Anyone should want that for a sequel to a game they love. Except for Call of Duty fans, of course.

In response to the OP: Nope. I love the TES Series and all, but if Diablo 3 comes out this year, it is my #1 game, bar none. I've been looking forward to it for ages!

I would rather they take at least 2 years in-between CoD releases, just so they can make it less terrible on release day.

I love CoD, but the state of Black Ops on release was, to me, unacceptable. Especially the spawns and hit detection.

The same problem was evident in MW2.

WaW was trash all the way.

CoD4MW is the best one, IMO.

Back on topic. If Diablo 3 comes out this year I probably won't be picking it up any time soonish. For one, I don't think this PC could handle it and 2, I'll be playing Skyrim, ME3, the next watered down for casuals horribly unbalanced CoD and something else. i forget. :P

loved the first diablo to death but i never got into the second one as much.......probably cause i just sick of it by then. isometric hack n slash just doesnt hold my interest anymore. i used to play turn based RPGs as well but i cant stand them so its probably just the change in video game design. once i started playing first person real time games there was no going back. i did have fun with torchlight though so if diablo 3 is similar to that i will pick it up when its on sale. :)

No... Dungeons is a direct homage to DungeonKeeper (1&2)
