Help with UPS

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 7:26 am

I bought a UPS yesterday, and I tried to to set it up today. I connected the power wire (http://www.talonix.com/images/pwr/42R03-4122.jpg) from the UPS to the tower, and another same power wire from the UPS to the wall socket. The computer didn't turn on.

I removed the UPS - tower power wire, and instead plugged in the power wire from the tower to the wall socket.

So basically now I've got:

UPS to wall socket.
Tower to wall socket.

Which obviously makes no sense. However, like I said, when I tried this setup:

UPS to tower.
UPS to wall socket.

It did not work. I only have one space for a power wire on my tower.

What to do? Thanks!

Are you plugging it into the right power sockets on the UPS? I've seen some with sockets for computers and then more for peripherals.

Blazer Vista 1000va. The only UPS available at Malta's largest PC store (scan, like the scan outlets in the UK) http://www.scanmalta.com/

You may be right Sgt Deacon, but I'll have to check next week cause I won't be at home this weekend.

Battery is full. The LCD screen indicates everything is working fine (i.e. fully charged).

Unless you need to turn the power on to the UPS with an on/off switch somewhere.

The connector you showed in the original post is a standard power interface. The UPS should be connected (via this interface) to the wall socket. Everything else (that's supposed to be UPS protected) should be plugged into the UPS outlets.
