Or extinguish dragons fires with carefully aimed snowball in their throats... xD

It'd have to be a pretty big snowball thrown by a yeti or a hill giant! Would be unrealistic if an ordinary humanoid could just take on a dragon with one little snowball, no matter how carefully aimed.

It would be some sort of an achievement... nearly impossible. And, that wouldn't kill the dragon but merely diminish his fire powers! xDD

I would like my light characters - Bosmer, Breton women to be able to run over the top of the snow and my heavier warriors to have to trudge through it

the water walking spell should let you walk on top of the snow instead of walking through it. since snow is just frozen water.

You mean compacted snow?

No, heavy falling snow. Kind of left out an important part there didn't I?

Otherwise: "Ok guys, let's sneak up on this Ogre through this snowfall from last week. Go!"

And they were never heard from again.

Dragons in TES don't breath fire though, they use an ancient language to create fire magically.

I would love to see footprints in the game. And not only in snowy areas.

I woke up this morning to find snow covering my front and back yard ( rare since I live in Roswell, New Mexico  ) and saw my dogs various footprints. Instantly my brain jumped to how cool it would be if they made some quest where someone says they got robbed or something and they think the perp ran into the forest outside of town, but thats all the information they can give you, and you are forced to try to follow the footprints of the thief

I think it would be cool. But I doubt it will be in.

That would be a nice scenario - not a very deep quest, but a cool thing to happen.
In regards to making snow useful, I am stationed in New Jersey where every week for the past 5 weeks we have experienced significant snow. If it had any use - it has long since been defeated the sheer inconvenience and annoyance.

There were footprints in Oblivion if I remember....but they dissapeared after about 100 feet or so, I think. Or maybe I'm remembering other games--I know RDR and Halo did it--I'm sure they'd do it here with so much snow.

Wouldn't make more sense then? I'd probably stop saying whatever I was about to say if I had a snowball manage to get into my mouth and down my throat.

I want a disguise yourself as a snowman spell. Then when an enemy walks by I can jump out of it and stab my foe in the neck.

Hyde: Hey Kelso, remember when you thought you saw an abominable snowman?
Kelso: Yeah!
Hyde: Remember what it really turned out to be?
Kelso: ......just a regular snowman.

I really like this idea. It would be really great if they added different footprints for the different creatures in the wilderness. Imagine walking in the forest and all of a sudden seeing a footprint that is a couple feet wide. I would get that uneasy feeling in my stomach that something much bigger than me is wandering around (dragons?).

Or not even jump out, just stab him as a snowman.

No more would the children of Skyrim see Frosty in quite the same way...

Yep, I'm really hoping that tracking would be in, but I doubt it.

Other ideas:

Snowshelter campsites/quinzees for wilderness camps. they'd blend in more with the surroundings making for some surprise close encounters.

Snow pit-traps

Roadside snowdrifts that can be carved out for observation or spider holes for bow/crossbow shots.

And of course, bit fluffy snow drifts near tall buildings for jumping into and seeing just how far I can burry myself - only to use fire on self to melt my way out ;)

So long as there are no snow fetch quests. Then again, Bethesda will always find a way to do fetch guests... :P
