Draw Distance In-game?

Post » Wed Dec 15, 2010 7:17 pm

I've been working on a relatively large mod now for some time, initially for New Vegas but too limited by the absolute inability to create settings other than 'Casinos in Nevada' forced me to port my scripts backwards.
Anyway, a major part of the mod are new outdoor city worldspaces. At first I'd messed up the water settings and had been using the Wasteland LOD so worked for a long time with a broken sky area. having fixed this I found I had a new problem. At the edges of the areas there are a lot of objects which give the illusion of being in the middle of a big city (New York) but in-game the view distance seems too small to actually see them from any kind of distance, meaning the distant ones are invisible and the closer ones only appear when you're at one end of the zone.
Here's some pictures to illustrate what I'm trying to say:

Mark on the first image is roughly where I'm standing in the second.

As you can see, a pair of skyscraqers have made a sudden appearance and it look awful ingame. I also just noticed the advert on the billboard has popped in too.How do I make objects appear properly from a distance?

You need to generate LOD for your worldspace. Generating LOD is a time consuming, somewhat complicated process but, is quite doable with some patience. I've put together the http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13676, this pack contains everything you'll need to generate your worldspaces LOD.

I have a lot of experience Generating LOD, If you need more help feel free to PM me.

Edit, I'm spending most of my time in the New Vagus threads and, just happend to notice this so, like I said PM me with questions I might miss a post here.
