do you run or walk?

Lothran prefers to walk. As an elf he has a long life so he′s rarely in a hurry anywhere :)

I'm glad to hear that about Lothran. You see, he lives in Bruma where there is lots of ice and snow. I fear if he ran, he might fall and injure himself, then Buffy would be a sad elf.

Indoors, I usually walk.

Outdoors, I usually dress in 3-8 pieces of gear that each add +10 Speed, and continually cast a custom spell that adds +100 Speed every 6 seconds. It does wonders for boosting Restoration, Athletics, and Acrobatics (given how often you damage yourself from falling when moving that quickly), and is faster than my horse. I kind of fancy my character as a descendent of the quick-footed hero (or heroes' friends) of fables, like that fellow who had to wear leg irons in the tales of Baron Munchausen just to keep from moving around too fast. (That's what it's like when I forget to take off my rings and amulet and such after going back indoors. Pewter plates flying across the room, potatoes popping up into the air, etc.)

As a general rule, my characters spend more time running than walking, just because I'm sort of impatient. It really depends on the character and the situation though.

They almost always run on the road. I generally don't increase speed beyond about 60 to 65, so their run is more of a jog, which seems appropriate. They pretty much always "run" in combat, though my stealth characters walk when they're sneaking, at least until they get to the point that they overcome the run penalty. All of them generally walk in town though. And some of them never run at all (Maelyn the Dunmer courtesan and Clive the Imperial assassin both never run, both because they believe it to be undignified).

I do whatever makes sense realistically. I try and walk most of the time, as it helps me soak in and enjoy the environment more. But if I'm being chased by a crazed Black Bow Bandit, the only thing I'd be soaking up is arrows, so I might as well run.

I'm like this. Most of my characters walk most of the time, only exception is if they've got somebody chasing them. By walking, not only do you immerse yourself in the game's surroundings, but you also avoid 90% of traps and pitfalls. I can't tell you how many times I've had a character who is walking thru some ruins and the floor falls before her. Or a giant blade falls from the ceiling. If she had been running, that would have been the end of her! I play dead is dead, too, so it's more important to survive with as few wounds as possible.

I do have one character who is a theif who runs all the time, though. Runs and sneaks more than he walks. He hardly ever goes dungeon diving, though.

I usually run unless I'm trying to give the game a more dramatic feel, in which case I go into 3rd person and walk.

I run most of the time and jump off high places wherever it is safe enough to not die. Athletics and acrobatics are always minor skills for me so it helps with optimizing leveling.
Practically the only time I walk is when sneaking.

I run in the wilderness, but for some reason running in town bothers my sensibilities.
