Help, permanent enchantments....

Post » Tue Dec 21, 2010 3:36 am

Hi, as the title says I got a bad case of permanent enchantments. I think it happened when two enchanted items I was wearing broke but it could have been something else too. Anyways, now I cannot equip those two items again (cause their enchantment is already active), nor can I remove those enchantments (removespell doesn't work?). So, was/is there a way to fix this little problem. I'd hate to see the last 3 levels go to waste because of this, I never realised it until I repaired the items and tried to equip them again. :(

Oh and first one to help gets a cookie. :cookie:

startquest UOP and the magic fix?

Use Refscope to get the ID of the effects on you and then remove them with the console?

Tried that, assuming you mean with RemoveSpell, but it gave me an error saying "Invalid spell item etc.".

startquest UOP and the magic fix?
Will try that now....

[edit]The UOP quest only has something related to bound items, my problem is just with normal enchantments.[/edit]

It's a known bug in the game.

Anytime a quest forces you to remove all your gear it doesn't take off the enchantments.

The only way to avoid this is to remove all your gear before the game strips it off.

Oh sweet, I found a way to fix it. I removed the enchantment of the item in question (with OBSE's RemoveEnchantment) and then I could equip it. Then after saving, restarting and unequipping the item I got rid of the enchantment. :D

Note to self: add this info somewhere.

Anyways, thank you both. And have a cookie. :cookie:

Use earlier save?
Uninstall/save/reinstall/console to obtain the items?

There's a little known, non-OBSE, command that can do it as well, player.dispel [enchantment's FormID]. See http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Ring_of_the_Vipereye for an example.

Oh cool, I was just about to make a mod for it (that automatically checks and fixes this problem). That'll be much simpeler. :)
