python install help

ok i installed python 2.6.5 for blender version 2.49 like it says it needs but when iactivate blender it says in the dos window no version of python available so i uninstalled python and im going to reinstall it is therea certain directory i need to install python to or just install into its own location by default?

try uninstalling both and then deleting both directories. after that reinstall, thats what i do to solve most problems.

if it doesnt work have a look on the site. that would also be a better place for this thread.

Looking in my Blender folder and I have Python in there. No idea if it's needed there. But I use an earlier version of both programs. It's also installed to C:\Python26 (the version I use). I assume that is where Blender is looking for it. But I really don't know as the second window that pops up when Blender is open, doesn't say much at all. Just that it has found it.
I could tell you how to set up Python to use with GaryBash but Blender may not be as involved. I did mine a long time ago for Oblivion, so things may've changed since then :unsure:

i have this on alot of forums if noone has an idea it might be a conflict with the versions i have and maybe ill have to get newest version of blender and python instead of the 2.49b one

also if anyone knows a good site for front and side images i can use as a backround to practice making meshes with id apreciate it

the current export scripts don't support blender 2.5x yet so you will have to use 2.49b for now. also, i don't think blender supports python 2.6.5 -- i've used 2.6.2 with no problems, so you might try installing that instead.

you also need pyffi as well for importing/exporting NIF files.

im using 2.6.2 thats what it says it requires to work thats the problem lol also where do i download pyffi from i have nifscope and scrpt and blender and gimp those were what i was told i needed but for my blender/python issue i installed python in blender like it directs me to on the wiki problem is im still gettting the cant find python so working with limited scripts only message in the dos window when i load blender ive uninstalled both programs and reinstalled them 3x to try and get it working correctly
