Alchemy with metal?

Post » Tue Jan 04, 2011 2:33 pm

In the real world when alchemy was popular, they actually used metals as their ingredients, which of course poisoned a bunch of people, but eventually became the foundation of our modern day physics.

That makes me wonder if we can utilize metal as part of our alchemy, such as the platinum coins, gold, silver, copper, iron, mithril, ebony (not a metal any more, but you know), glass... that we find in oblivion. They should be distinguished from herbal/animal ingredients in some way. for example, only metals posses certain attributes.

I guess alloy can be used to be a substitute for enchanting for characters that aren't "smart" enough to learn enchanting
