Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:07 pm

Hi - Ive just discovered this and being an ' old ' lovecraft fan would love to give it a go.
However, does anyone know if its win 7 compatible ? Has anyone run it on Win 7 ?
If so please let me know - thanks !

I don't think there will be any problem, most of old games work with server. It's Vista that has compability issues not Se7en.

I'm running this game on Windows 7 Pro x64 and the only problems I had with the game were at the beginning of the game. The first was in a decrepit manor house's ladder leading basemant. Sometimes the game crashes when even looking at the ladder but most of the time when trying to go down. The workaround is to jump down from the ladder. You should also approach the ladder face backwards. And the second problem I found was on the second chapter when trying to move a box away from front of a door. The workaround is to move the box by pressing forward once each time and move it little by little.

The Issues could either be caused by Windows 7 or my hardware. Just to let you know. :)

I'm having a problem putting the game on my computer. I installed windows 7, now I am having "compatibility issues" due to superseding by this version. Any solutions?

I have the same issue when try to install the game. The specific problem is about compatibility with the Windows Media Technologies. If somebody knows how to avoid or fix this problem I'll be really grateful.

Might be a good idea, given the game's age, to install it outside of the Program Files directory so as to avoid the UAC, and also to install and run the game as admin. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11841-run-administrator.html

I'm yet to try this game on my Windows 7 Machine, but perhaps there will be a workaround.

What if you try to run the game in Windows XP compatible mode?

Hello! I have a problem with CoC on my Windows 7 x32. In the first location the moon shines brightly too. Maybe it is a DirectX problem? Please help.

Is it really that bothersome? The first level is a good 5 minutes long...Inside a house.

Try a 4:3 resolution (unstretched), and you should be OK - at least that solved the problem for me. DCotE is too old for widescreen proper and just stretches to the selected resolution (any your monitor supports). It looks awful in 16:9 anyway, doors are virtually square.
