Adding sound to a Holotape

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:06 pm

Hey all, I know how to do anything with a holotape exept adding sound. Yes, i know how to find the add tessound tab, BUT I want to know how I add a sound file to that list WITHOUT making a quest, because all the tutorials ive seen online just tell you to make a quest first.

You create a new 'sound' object and then you can attach it to the holotap as a sound.

And the WAV or MP3 has to be in the correct format. It you get no sound when testing the sound object, then you have it wrong.
To test a sound object, you must create it and save it, then close the window. Re-open the sound object to test it.

The mp3 is formatted right, it plays in other programs, I re-opened and restarted the geck and nothing. Still no sound! Mabe I have the audio clips in the wrong folder, I have it in- C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\Sound\Voice\Vault74\Holo entry one\Johnson watts

Is there somthing im doing wrong? I just placed the files there, then opened them inthe geck, in the geck I named it HLOJohnsonHolo1

Please help!

It needs to be in the proper 'format'.

For example, a WAV file needs to be rendered at 32000 Hz, 16bit, mono PCM wave file.
Or 32000 Hz, 16bit, stereo PCM wave file.

I am not sure how MP3's would be set up, or it it will even work.

Try moving it to the 'fx' folder and taking it out of the voice folder.

/data/sound/fx/

If you do not extract the sounds from the BSA files, then it will not exist. You always have to create the folder paths otherwise.

So are you saying that putting it in the fx folder did not do any good?
All my sounds are in that folder and they work fine.

It worked, but when I add it to the holotape, then listen to it in game, it crashes. :(

A holo tape may need to be mono, not stereo. Or vice-versa.
