Just "finished" Oblivion

Post » Tue Jan 18, 2011 12:16 am

Hello all, I just joined this community after "finishing" Oblivion last night. I completed the main story quest and loved it! The best part is I look forward to going back for the seemingly endless content still there.

I know I am very late in "joining" with Oblivion, but the first teaser for Skyrim got me hooked, and once I found Oblivion for my XBOX and popped it in I knew I found something I would love.
Cant wait for Skyrim! :)

(Also, if someone could help me out, where is the "search" function when looking for threads?)

Welcome to the forums!

And, yes, Oblivion is, indeed, an amazing game. I have, doubtlessly, spent more time playing that than I have any other game, and that's saying something, cuz I sure as hell spend a ton of time gaming.

Oblivion is one of those handfuls of games you can never truely complete. I've been playing on and off since offical release and haven't done everything that I want to do yet. My main character has about 550 hours played now and still hasn't visited everywhere yet or done all of the guilds. I've chosen to not do the Dark Brotherhood, Fighters Guild and Thieves Guild with her for RP reasons but have done them all on other characters. You have loads left to do ahead of you so do not hold back.

It would be nice to know what sort of character you have used so far. You can have even more fun playing it with a different type of character.

Try hunting for all the Nirnroots. That takes you a very long time.

Knights of the Nine is great fun aswell. I would strongly suggest that even though it will only most probally add about another 5-10 hours to your game. Shivering Isles is LOTS of fun but is worth doing more then once.

I look forward to seeing you at the Mages Guild sooner or later.

I started again with a new character a 'self maked', a sage .... Magician combinend with speech and barter craft and can use a sword if the magic runs out ... This character ofcourse never would join the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood ... I am planning to make him Arch Magister before finishing the main quest .... Let's say so I might come up with a story he disagrees with Traven ...

When ti comes to a TES game, there is no finish line. ;)

But it's good you got into it. Better late than never! And you're in time for Skyrim, so that's good too!

Hello all, I just joined this community after "finishing" Oblivion last night.

Seriously, this is one of the games I′ll probably never let go of. I just can′t, it won′t stop! There′s always something to do, always a new potion or spell to cook up, always a cave I haven′t visited yet, always...

You get the point

You better don't try PC and mods...chances are that you even forget and skip Skyrim's release date

Oblivion on PC is lovely, so if you feel tired with the XBox version try the PC with a "few" mods (I'm currently running well over 100, I think... :whistling: ). Guaranteed longevity, like no game you've ever played before! Except maybe possibly Morrowind. :P

Welcome to the forums! It's never too late to find TES. I second Mikedzines in recommending Shivering Isles, which is just pure awesome.

Conrats on beating the main quest, you've found far and away the longest lasting game I've ever played. I've poured more hours of my life into Oblivion than any other game, and enjoyed every second of it. Even now, years after the release, I find myself with the itch to play it yet again. Welcome to heaven.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I am VERY happy I found TES :) I dont think I will venture into the PC grounds for quite a while, I am a full time student and dont have the $ or reasons to justify a good PC purchase, and my current one is no good with games

Just in my little time with Oblivion I am overwhelmed, happily, with how much there is.

Does anyone know how many quests there are in the game? :D

I started out not knowing what to expect or what I was doing, so after reaching level 8 or so I scrapped that character and started over.

I have been playing as a Male Breton, The Lady Birthsign, Spellsword Class, and am now level 14. I have focused mostly on magicka, saving the swords and armor for when I play through with another character to do the Fighters guild among others. I have focused largely on Destruction and Illusion crafts, and some alteration (I am still learning so much! :D )
Though I just finished the main quest I am going through the Mages Guild and any other quests. I am also looking for the Nirnroots as you suggested, I found the first 10, and am on the second 14, cant seem to find any more at this time. I am not actively looking, just stopping by any water spots on my route.

I plan to play through again for the fighters guild quest with a armor/blade based character. And yet another character focused on stealth to do the thieves and dark brotherhood quests. :D

What a wonderful game! :D

I definitely am getting Shivering Isles once I finish the main game guilds.
Thanks for mentioning Knights of the Nine as well, I was wondering if I should get that too.

Oh and I LOVE this emoticon LOL :obliviongate:
Cheers all!!!
